Bay Rum Bay Rum Bay Rum

I got my rooster's nest bay rum in.

What I get off of the bottle is a nice, clean and classic bay rum scent.  I'm not much of a liquor person nor have I smelled a bunch of different bourbons in my time but I don't get much of a bourbon smell.

Perhaps the scent is just blended really well, there's a very low amount of bourbon used or there's not enough nuances between the bourbon and bay rum to detect strong differences....I'll leave that to the liquor experts!

First try will be after my shower here shortly (non-shaved)!

I don't think ANY Bourbon is added to it. It says the aftershave is "aged" for 3 months in a used bourbon barrel. The amount of scent it would pic up would be very subtle if it was picked up at all probably. Certainly not noticed by this Neanderthal

While I love bay rum in many iterations, I don't really want to smell boozy.  While some small batch bay rums may contain actual rum I believe that most do not.

Island Estate does contain real rum. However, we purposely didn't over do it.

Same here Dominic 

I used Black Rum but also added witch Hazel and Aloe. It smells like Bay Rum now that it’s infused.

Me too, I do know that it's popular around KY to age things in the used bourbon barrels though. Add this to the list now

I don't think it lists any ingredients on the bottle at all.

I just messaged them and asked if it has any bourbon actually in it or is it just from what is absorbed from sitting for 3 years in the barrels. Already got a standard text message back saying they'd get back to me as soon as possible. I'll update here when I get a response.

bourbon or not aside, I used it today before heading into work and could smell it for about 30 minutes before it totally faded out. that's probably longer than some, but definitely not as long as I wish a bay rum would last.

hopefully the bay rum I'm working on will have some longevity to it.
