Battle Of the Milds (Feather AS-D2 vs Edwin Jagger DE89)

Yup when I had my job at Transport Canada before COVID19 I bough this razor just before my father passed away and paid $750 CAD yeah a lot more than Wolfman.

But I have to be honest it’s a piece of art the way it’s done you can see it before my final polish how it’s built well.

Again this is my view and opinion I really like it and enjoy it. Is it worth Price YES.

I wish I could show you my in person hold it in hand it’s like a Jewell.

Mind you Feather Lifetime Guarantee it and their customer service is exceptional very responsive and quick.

I completely agree that aesthetics are important, and no one can tell us how much the aesthetics of a particular item should be worth to us. 

It’s good to hear how much satisfaction the WS-D2 gives you.

Absolutely agree with you on all, when I saw how their packaging is also done to match razor and being laquered with dark brown colour with sparkles it speaks for it self. 

Very nice piece of Collection to own for ex. Charcoal Goods razor and other artisans as well.

Bottom line we get things that make us happy to enjoy and share among others it’s the only way I can learn things too as well and improve.

You cannot beat the Japanese when it comes to packaging. I worked in Japan in the late eighties and through the 90's. At that time, there was not even a close second to Japanese packaging. All products....everything from toilet paper and cookies to expensive watches and jewelry. The Japanese innovated the best of European packaging and took it to the next level. Today, many have copied what they have done, but IMHO no one has equaled it.

Absolutely Correct they truly put effort and innovation to the next Level.

Personally, I consider the DE89 to be a mild-moderate razor rather than mild. To me a mild razor is something like the VDH/Weishi TTO. I do not have one of the Feather razors, but I have heard it is quite mild.

The aggressiveness of a razor depends a lot on the blade you pair with it. The Feather razor comes with a Feather blade, which I would consider to be an ideal pairing. A super sharp blade with a mild razor. I use my mild VDH razor with super sharp blades like BIC Chrome Platinum, Nacet, and PermaSharp Super. A Personna Lab Blue on its third shave is almost in that sharpness range. I find the Lab Blue to be dull on the first shave due to the thick comfort coating.

I would never use a super sharp blade in an aggressive razor like the Muhle R41. For a razor like that mid-sharp blade like the 7 O'Clock Sharpedge Yellow is a suitable pairing.

I used a new perma sharp super blade with both the EJ DE89 and the AS-D2.

Will have to try with the feather blade..Ironically, the Edwin Jagger also comes with a feather blade new.

I'm blown away that people use Feathers regularly, but good on them. I'll be curious to see how your shaves go with a Feather. For me? Feathers can give me some great shaves. Feathers can also give me shaves I thought were great, and then suddenly I see weepers in multiple places. With any other blade, I make a mistake and I'm like, "yep, got myself there." With feathers? I never have a clue. I just end up bloody.

Very well said this is what I learned and experienced too as well blade makes difference that’s for sure.

Feather paired their blade for Feather razor for a reason and sure it works mild razor sharp blade   

In my case it doesn’t work unfortunately I have sensitive skin so pairing Tiger - Platinum / Tatra Blades works excellent so far.

Same for me they are Sharp Ninjas that’s for sure and cut trough every single bump on skin and close so making few passes for me with Feathers cause lots of irritations so for now I avoid them.

Great Blades tho and Packaging Kudos to Feather
