How's the scent on that... Tropical or more of a coconut cream? (I'm thinking tobs and the like for coconut shave soaps that fall into the cream category... Light and creamy, not tropical at all)

Creamy but not artificially so; akin to Thai coconut milk

Opened both of these the other day...a little mint and menthol to combat the heat

I used to use that when i was a kid. Not the blue one, but the amber one. It brings back memories. Smile

I like this thread! I use bar soaps all the time, and while I generally stick to the usual Yardley and the like that I can pick up locally, I sometimes want to vary things up a bit and so this thread is a nice reference for me.

The amber remains my favorite.  I don’t know how to describe the scent but it’s not really floral or citrus or pine or grassy and yet it’s a touch of all of those things to me.  There is a green one, as well, which has a slight mint scent if I remember correctly.

Dan, I’m terrible at describing complex scents so I do apologize.  If you have never tried the amber Pears soap, as Yohann says, it’s a bit of nostalgia.  It’s a glycerine soap that can often be found in places like Dollar Tree for not much money and is certainly worth taking a chance on to see if you might like it.

Yohann, I did not see the other colors until I went to Scotland several years ago.  The amber is still, by far, the most popular.  If you haven’t used it since you were a kid, why not give it another go just to see if the scent is as you remember?  I use bar soap exclusively when I bathe or shower in the evening but just use a liquid soap at the sink in the morning to wash my face.  I enjoy changing up the scents in the bar soap but every once in a while go back to that Pears amber for both the scent and the nostalgia kick. Wink
