I was using LGC Glissant and the lather was a bit less dense and dried out on the other side of the face. I stopped my shave after the first pass and threw on some Kyovu to help out my skin. This sometimes happens when I have 5-6 days beard growth. Maybe I didn't load enough but usually I am not shy on time spent on the puck as well as making sure the lather becomes hydrated enough on the face. It was just odd as every time I have used this formula, it was stellar! I need to some really testing with the white and compare the new glissant. It seems like you can hit the sweet spot for hydration sooner on the LGC compared to white label. They both can definitely take the water well which is important to me.

I'm looking forward to see Will at this week's meetup in Seattle and smell the rest!

You have no idea what its like being up here in the frozen north and having to wait an indeterminate period of time before Barrister's Reserve will be shipped to Canadian vendor(s)  Its like watching my brothers and sisters all openning their gifts on Christmas morning but there are no gifts for me - inexplicably delayed...againSad

You know how sometimes when something you want is unavailable for a long time and then by the time its finally available you don't want it anymore?  Well, this isn't going to be one of those times, I am so looking forward to Barrister's Reserve and I am loving seeing everyone's comments, pictures and experiences with it.
Marko

I promise we're working to get it to our Canadian retailers as quickly as possible. Smile It's frustrating for everyone involved, including me!

My Reserve Cool arrived yesterday and I used it this morning. My noise is not special like many of you frag heads, but Barrister_N_Mann nailed Floïd Blue in my opinion. The alcohol burn lasted a second or two, and the nice menthol kick felt great. My face felt very smooth after the splash dried down. I wanted so badly to use it as my only post shave treatment today, but my face started feeling a little tight/dry about 20-30 minutes after application, so I ran upstairs and applied some Nivea balm to moisturize before leaving for work. I'll be using Cool over the next couple weeks to see if the moisturizing properties improve with use over time. The packaging is very classy, and I like the deep blue color.

Try giving it a few hours. It can take a little bit for the allantoin to sink in and soften your skin. Your face will get softer and more hydrated as the stuff takes effect. Smile

Thanks for the tip. I typically switch up my soap and aftershave every 3 days, but I'm looking forward to sticking with Cool for an extended run as I work through samples of Seville and Cheshire soaps.

Are any retailers going to be selling samples of the Barristers Reserve items? I don't think I've actually experienced any of the classic scents these are inspired by, unless there are modern formulations that are close - but I gather that there aren't, and that's kind of the point of these.

Also, are these a limited time offering, or will they be in regular production? I think I may be most interested in the next two releases, in November are they? Still trying to figure out what to expect from those, but the little information I have seen makes them sound like scents I would like. More details are always welcome, of course Smile

1) Not yet. We're trying to do the samples in such a way that we can have thousands made at a time, but that takes a fair bit of capital, so we're still trying to get all of the necessary funding together. There will eventually be samples, I promise, especially because they're going to be part of a really cool promotion that we haven't announced yet. Smile

2) Regular production. And yep, the next two are still slated for November. Lavender and Fern.

Lavender is based on what Luca Turin would call "the greatest lavender soliflore of all time." That fragrance is the only one in the line that's technically still in production, but it's so outrageously difficult to obtain that I decided it was time to bring it out into the world.

Fern is a re-creation of the granddaddy of them all, the very first fougère, as close to its original formulation as possible.

That's all I'm saying for now. Tongue

Just a reminder for folks that may have missed it, but I did a full four-part review of Barrister's Reserve and all three scents - plus, there's a link to receive 10% off your order!

Long and short of it, you want to get in on this.

My one gripe about the new Reserve. Once you're below the label you can't enjoy the beautiful color of the juice Sad

I know it's probably expensive to do, but a cutout view window would be cool to enjoy the product view

Wet shavers can be so picky!

I agree, though it could be even simpler than that by just having the labels 1/2in or 1in shorter so it doesn't overlap on itself.

You could always just look at the bottom of the bottle...
