Barrister and Mann

I sold Dickens twice after the holiday because it reminded me of Christmas. There really isn't much difference between the two. I prefer Adagio due to the menthol. Either aftershave would work with either soap imo. I agree with Greg that Adagio is more cherry forward whereas Dickens is more lemon forward but the cherry is very much present. The floral notes are almost undetectable off the puck but I get a whiff of them now and then during lathering.

Thanks guys. Both sound nice to me. I'm trying to decide which I'd be happier with: Getting the Adagio before it becomes unavailable for the season, or waiting for Dickens. Not sure I need two cherry scented aftershaves. Would you say the Dickens is distinctly Christmasy?

No. And furtermore, to say they are "cherry scented" might be a bit misleading. The lime in Adagio makes a great distinction among other things from Dickens.  While they're both light and short-lived scents, I find Adagio to be the bolder of the 2.

Just to give you some additional information about Dickens, the original scent came from a Christmas cookie that I used to make for Will when he was younger.  In addition to two types of cherries it also has Cardamom spice and lemon zest. Last year we sent out the recipe with the Dickens orders  and we received lots of pictures of batches of the Cherry Cardamom cookies that people had made. We plan on doing that again this year. So, enjoy your shaves and get out your baking utensils. This recipe and corresponding soap scent are still some of my favorites.

They remain my favorites. Also, Dickens incorporates cardamom and nutmeg, which, at least to my nose, gives it an almost fizzy character. It's very bright and happy, less floral than Adagio.

Does either have much staying power? I'm guessing the fruitier scents don't last too long, but I'd be thrilled to be wrong.

We are thinking about making a matching Aftershave Splash for Dickens. It is not a particularly strong scent but the Aftershave should increase the staying power. We can't believe that it is already September - the Holidays will be here before we know it.

No, Dickens and Adagio are not that similar. The first is gourmand while the latter is fruity/floral.

Tie between Cheshire and LGC, actually.

My favourite Barrister and Mann scent is the one I happen to be using at the time. Today its Bay Rum. I must say that the Barrister and Mann riff on Bay Rum is really exceptional. I am so looking forward to the repackaged/glissant Bay Rum. I'm also looking forward to the eventual Kyovu reformulation in Bay Rum although I still have sufficient quantities for the time being. I have so much to look forward to.
