I would rather wish if we can somehow get some of these  fragrance reviewers addicted to wet shaving and benefit from their impressions on the scent profile or even if some of the YouTubers may take cue from the thread and do some research before airing a video.

I second this even if scent is subjective. Most of us already know whether the soap base is any good or not and seriously, the range of soap bases in the top tier ranges from excellent to really excellent. Not so with scent.

Sorry to differ but prefer to rely on personal perspective rather than experts in such subjective matters.

Professional experience has demonstrated time and again that expert consensus in subjective matters of taste can end in a costly road to hell from cruise ship foyers to hotel grand halls to home architecture.  Have witnessed an endless parade of costly, failed expert consensus and now the revival of 70s fashion...really??!!

On matters of taste, posit providing the populace a classic educational foundation then allowing them to decide what works for them. As is often stated of elite leadership, we would be far better served randomly selecting names from the general population than relying upon the elite educational screens currently failing us; minimally those selected randomly would at least have an understanding of the peoples' perspectives.

I like the way you think.

I don’t dispute your views and in a perfect world we would all get to try and sniff products before buying. That’s why samples are a good idea. I guess what I’d like to see from reviewers is honesty. You don’t need to be rude about it but if you don’t like something, say so. The professional reviewers don’t want to alienate their suppliers. It doesn’t do anyone any favours.

There is one young fella I like to watch on Youtube as he sometimes compares vintage and reform. classics as well as new stuff I have never heard of. Regardless, IMHO he is usually spot on. YMMV.

This is a very interesting scent.

I get all of this to be certain and damned if it doesn't work and work well!! Very different.

I have a Red Letter Day sample and agree with you on all points.

How much do you pick up the sandalwood?  I did find the standard B&M sandalwood a bit much for me, but love the idea of vanilla, bergamot and cedar wood.

I felt like it was more supporting the bergamot and cedar wood in the background, along with the vanilla and leather. I wouldn’t describe it as a sandalwood-forward scent.

Interesting - I had to sell my sandalwood set as I felt the sandalwood was very strong.  Most of Will’s scents I love.  Occasionally it doesn’t work for me.  Sample will be ordered.  Thank you!

Weren't the new soaps (Rhapsody and Red Letter Day) supposed to be released yesterday...? Did I miss something? There's nothing about a postponement on Will's website or social media, as far as I can see.

FWIW, I e-mailed Will re the whereabouts of the promised Lavender, Interrupted and he kindly replied with their new updated Q2 2023 intros just posted:

Looks like Vetyver Santal is slated for a return.

I thought that Lavender, Interrupted would be a shaving soap intro as well. Looks like I was clearly wrong. Oh well.
