This is the good stuff to read. Its business in an shrinking market and the claws are out.

How does that happen?  Is your competition timing their releases to coincide with yours?  That would probably eat into your sales among those who may limit their budget (what a concept). I'm not particularly sophisticated in the ways of online retail and I am invariably surprised at the stuff that goes on.

On another note, I have Lyssa on the way - I'm looking for that head shot to my morning shaving routine  Big Grin

That's one of the concerns, yes. Hope you enjoy Lyssa!
I'm sure that I will.

Thats too bad but I guess you have to do what's necessary in the interests of the business.  After giving it some thought I have concluded that the unexpected surprise of a Barrister and Mann release could be even better than the anticipation of a long awaited release.  Nothing wrong with spontaneity, at least from the customers' perspective.  You'll have to impose Apple iPhone-like security around your operations lest anything leaks. Imagine the clandestine meeting between an anonymous B&M staffer and a youtube shavingblogger, money and soap beta versions changing hands.  Smile

and don't forget to post on this thread too! https://damnfineshave.com/thread-the-bar...e-schedule ;-)

I've just removed the "old" release schedule page from my bookmarks... looking forward to your surprise announcements!

Jaxx I see your reference but I can guarantee you that’s a very false accusation and quite a low blow.

Uh oh, the Reddit guys here to defend. I'm sure the timing of the big scoots drop had nothing to do with Will posting his release schedule weeks/months ahead of time. You should stop reading into things. All you do is give more visibility to your perceived issues.

Like Will said above.....competitive marketplace. Could Declaration Grooming have waited another week? Could they have gone a week early? Who knows, not my businesses to run.

If buying dollars are tight does any artisan owe another artisan room to have their drop unencumbered with their very own drop? I don't know, not my businesses to run.

I'm sure all the adults in here can draw their own conclusions on this subject and certainly don't need my input.

And before any additional Reddit boys come over please understand this is Will's merchant thread. I can field your conspiracies through PM or in the Declaration Grooming merchant thread.

Thanks for stopping by.......

I'm hardly a reddit guy. I'm equal opportunity. I totally get Will's business decision. I just don't think it's good form to start casting aspersions, lightly veiled as they may be. Both of these artisans produce elite-level products. Will's too classy to publicly point out who the offender(s) may be. I was just stating that I feel it would be highly unlikely that the artisan you're suggesting would consciously do that, and based on my personal experience with him, it would contradict his character. I meant nothing more than that.

I hear you.....you just posted at the same time the knucklehead did.

I really don't want to put Will in a spot. I'm sure all of these guys get along but at the end of the day they are running businesses. Few of them this is their full time gig. This is actually a good subject in it's own thread to beat up on. But many of the part time operations are gone. These are livelihoods now and a few employing family members. If you don't think someone would make a business decision that helps them take in a portion of the limited buying dollars at a point in time you would have to be gullible. I have been a big defender that no one owns duck fat or bison fat or this butter or that butter. But when someone makes a new base the threads start about how that person stole that animal fat from someone else. Forget if the new product is better. There are at least a half dozen threads over the last 2 years with guys screaming that the new base was practically stolen and contains no ingenuity of their own. This all happens because an artisan feels like their "gimmick" has been taken which then has the fanboys opening up threads to make it known someone is a copycat.

There are a few threads on Reddit with guys taking open shots at artisans for using canned fragrances instead of being a true perfumer. I think we all know those knocks are at Stirling for the most part.

More importantly is why iodine tablets are not able to be mailed?

These were chlorine, but the answer is that EPA regulation prevents us. It's not that they can't be mailed; it's that they cannot be repackaged in any way and we would need a special license in order to sell or distribute them.
