Darn near a week since somebody posted here?! Thats odd. As the old movies said - Its quiet out there. Too quiet. And you all know what happens next. Lets start a controversy - I'm circling the rim of my tub of 1st edition Leviathan and man am I enjoying myself. I can't believe that the first shave I ever had with Leviathan made me wonder what the heck? I got a strong wet dog smell - wet Old English Sheepdog to be precise but by the second shave with it either the soap or my olfactory neurons had changed and I got amazing loveliness from it. Leviathan has become one of my all time favourites scents. But I've compared it to the newer releases and I'm not sure they're the same - Will have you changed the recipe?

Leviathan definitely messes with you. There's something mystical about it. I like it.

Which raises a question: Just out of curiosity, Will, do you think you could reproduce "wet dog" in an aftershave, if challenged to do so. This is hypothetical, of course

In theory, sure. Skatole, costausol, and castoreum would do the job. You definitely wouldn't like the result, though.

Ah, yes, castoreum. Or, as I have come to think of it: beaver ass. I first became aware of this when I saw it listed as an ingredient in a tea I had been enjoying for some time. The enjoyment came to an abrupt halt upon consulting google. Somehow I don't quite mind as much putting it on my face, so if it's an ingredient in any of my current B&M aftershaves, no big deal.

Also, since I don't think I've mentioned it here, Rhapsody is amazing. Will this be done every spring, or will it skip years? I may have to acquire a stockpile.

It has been done every Spring for the past three years, but we're actually going to retire it after this year. It's had its day in the sun, so we feel that it's time we did something different for Spring.
