Well, I swallowed the "lure" and ordered samples from Maggard of B&M's newest soap/AS combo:  Sunny Lane. Scent profile is as follows:

Quote:...a peppery green, sparklingly fresh combination of bergamot, vetiver, sweet clover, and oakmoss that's reminiscent of childhood playtime in your backyard.

I love Ravish and like Nordost soap (the latter's AS scent to me is cloying) so Heaven knows what this will bring. Regardless, Will gets paid in the end.  Tongue   Wink

Odd that you find Nordost splash cloying.

Even though Nordost seems relatively simple on the surface, it seems to present differently to many users. I don’t find the splash cloying, but I also don’t directly detect any smokiness in the soap or the splash, as some people say they do. To me, the “smoked orange” mainly means that this is no candy isle fake orange scent. That would have its place, too, but I appreciate what Will did in Nordost to really bring those real oranges to life.

To my nose the smokiness really is apparent in the "drydown" and both it & the orange "strangle" my olfactory sense.  Sick  I don't love the soap scent either, but it being less potent IMO. On the other hand, B&M's Citricuya is a masterpiece!!

It seems that everything is as it should be - listening to Will Carius on th Lather Talk podcast he said that he didn't expect that everyone would love everything he made and that's a realistic expectation.  If you love everything he makes then you're probably not that fussy or the range of product is too narrow.  I have a significant number of B&M products - some I love, some I like and some I'm not crazy about.  I can't say that I actually hate or even dislike any of them.  I do appreciate that Will takes some risks with his creations and I accept that I won't love them all.

I agree on the dry down is when the smoke comes into play on Nordost. I think sometimes you find linkage in scents and with me I find FG, Angelique and even Nordost to have a similar vibe I truly enjoy. My armchair complaining would be no EDT for Angelique which I love next to FG. Will thinks that splashes should last as long tying your shoes which he has mirrored perfectly with Nordost. Being that the drydown is where all 3 shine especially Nordost I wished it lasted longer.

And when I say same vibe I think a few will agree that CL fits that mold. Allot of the CL has underlying notes that are familiar across a few scents that makes it easy to say that it is a CL product. Not a bad thing in anyway but a few of these guys to my nose at least have a scent signature on a few of their products.

I figured you did but wanted to cover the bases.  I'm usually totally lost when guys start throwing those around but I knew these ones!
