Used to be Seville for me. But...IMO...B&M base is now second rate compared to WK and GD. Looking forward to trying Grooming Department’s new Before The Fire...which they describe as a lime forward barbershop in a tallow/duck fat base. It’s actually their After The Fire without the smoke. Will be released in a few weeks...

I’m in the same boat as you, some of my very favorite scents are from B&M, Seville being one of them. WK and GD have taken over the top spots in my Den as well, and I just don’t get the same results with the Glissant base. B&M Reserve on the other hand rounds out my top three, I always get excellent results with this base. I’m assuming this has a lot to do with my hard water.

Before the Fire is my most anticipated GD Soap, I liked everything about After the Fire except for the smoke. Careful not to say anything bad about B&M or people’s Torches and Pitchforks will start coming out, haha! Angel

Not just B&M. Over the last year I've found that almost all wetshaving forums have an attack mentality when any type of critism is levied. Even when it is constructive.

I say...didn't work for me......didn't dig the scent

Fanboy hears.....base sucks azz.......scent smells like feet

Then it goes off the rails. This is why you never see a review that is terrible. Artisans can make a subpar product. You will never read it though

Oh man, did you ever just speak the truth. I posted on another Forum that a brush I purchased (new) was scritchy. Holy smokes, you would have thought I had personally attacked the seller and the manufacturer. I was accused of have "sensitive skin", another found it impossible to believe I was talking about the same brush EVERYONE, BAR NONE, has done nothing but rave about. I even said that I "liked" the brush, but it was taking an inordinate amount of time to break in. Sorry for the thread hijack, but when I read this last post I had to vent.

Hey, I'm the biggest proponent of voicing your honest opinion about a product and I wish more people did reviews of stuff they didn't like. That being said, my comment above was MY opinion and I don't think it should be labeled "fanboyism" or "bringing out the torches and pitchforks", more so a failed attempt at humor. In my experience, all of the soaps mentioned are on pretty much equal footing. It's splitting hairs really when it comes down to it. I do apologize for derailing the thread.

Sounded like you were reacting to the "B&M is second rate" comment, which to me is more of a trolling type comment than the constructive criticism that others are making it out to be.

Ok back to the topic.
I found Van Yulay Le Rive to be the same scent as American Blend but unfortunately there is non on Maggard so that's not an option.
Also, Oleo has Irving Park, according to description that should be the same...
Saw some mentions of PAA CAD also?

If WK Mayfair, BM Seville and Stirling don't smell anything alike Fine AB can you tell me are they close to something else? Maybe to Mike's and MLS Kraken then?
