Badger brushes cost - is it a markup or real?

I used to hate shaving (Cartridge days), nowadays i really look forward for the morning shave, it makes my entire day All Gravy

It's funny mentioning boar as I do have 3 boars I am awaiting delivery for. I haven't used a boar for several years funny enough, yet I won't part with them. Maybe I'll someday get them all out and photograph them together when I have the energy. It's much more doable than trying to corral all my badgers. lol

Right now I am using a try-on Boar, I have never used Badger yet and still ‘em on the study/hunt.
The Boar made me abandon the synthetic, am enjoying it very much

Did notice the Ethos soap too, Brush handl end bowl complement each other, the entire setup is amazing. 
I see people prefere the 2 band over the 3 band silver tip, guessing the 2 band has more backbone?

I have 3 band badgers from Brad Sears and Blonde Badgers from Lee Sabini.  

I like a little scrub, solid backbone, and good lather release.  I believe you get a good combination of the 3 in a quality 2 band badger.  

I also have Manchurian Simpsons that are older now.   

If you made me choose in value, I would take a Shavemac 2 band (non D01) 24mm fan for an all around knot.  I can face lather or bowl lather with it, it’s big but not huge, it’s got a little scrub and backbone but not scratchy or scritchy, it’s just about right for my needs except when I travel, I prefer a smaller brush (20-22) as I use a small copper bowl.

Most of the silvertip or finest badger brushes you can buy today are pretty good. If you aren't ordering from Amazon.

I don't know a lot about the European market because I usually buy from China or Hand-Tied Artisan.
All hair comes from China; who ties it is the only difference. I think that American or EU artisans usually look at the quality of the hair and experiment with various methods to find the best density and loft height.

China sometimes sells hair with defects, and it may have sorting issue. Also, I think they are trying to sell what is popular in the market instead of trying new things.
But my last orders from Boti Brush (China) were pretty good. The hair was the same as one of my expensive brushes, and she was very careful about cleaning and tying the knot. There are no black hairs, it's very even and symmetrical, It's not losing hair, and it's density around my expensive brushes.

Y'all are killing me. Now I'm considering trying a badger again. Just gotta keep telling myself,"I don't need it". Lol.
