B&M Night Music

Had my first shave with Night Music this morning. Lovely stuff; more rounded and composed than I would have expected from some reports of its dirtiness (the musk aspect, that is). If anything, it feels soft and kind of sensual. I guess that works with the theme.

Anyway, I knew about the oxidized top so I wasn't worried about my brush, but funnily enough the "problem" I had with the tan-colored lather is that it sort of blended in with my face, and it was tougher to tell quickly what areas I'd already shaved.

I have one other Glissant B&M, Le Grand Chypre, but is it just me or does Night Music whip into slickness almost immediately? First B&M where I didn't have to work through a thick, creamy, but-not-quite-super-slick-yet phase when lathering.

Interesting! Honestly the first thing the quality of the lather reminded me of was Pannacrema Nuàvia (which is certainly a positive association!).

I'm ready to try out some B&M with the Glissant base. The regular base soaps I've tried so far worked great for me, so it should be interesting to see the difference the new one makes.

I shaved with Night Music this morning. The lather quality was excellent, and I agree with onethinline in that there is a slight resemblance to PannaCrema Nuavia's lather consistency (which is a huge compliment IMO). I was very happy with the slickness and protection, and post-shave was excellent.

One big advantage to the new Glissant base is that it is very easy to use and exceptional in all categories. Because of this quality and level of versatility, it will be the formula that I most often recommend to new wet shavers. Of course, there are other soaps that provide great shaving performance all around, but those are usually in the luxury category (and price point) from what I've found in my testing. Glissant performs flawlessly with wonderful scents at an accessible price. A big improvement over the original IMO, which was still great but nowhere near as easy to use, especially in hard water conditions.

If you haven't yet tried a Glissant base soap yet, get a sample from Maggards (if they have any left). It's really worth a try.

Mine hasn't arrived yet but I expected this; Same thing with Lavanille, love that soap but I don't use it as often cause it stains my brush for a little bit. It washes out after a few shaves with other soaps but I would prefer it didn't do that.

So would I. Unfortunately, there's no feasible way to counteract the vanillin oxidation when you use it in that kind of quantity.

Would you recommend then to use a Synthetic brush instead of a Badger? I mean if a person is really worried about staining their Badger brush, would that be the best next option?

If someone is really worried about the discoloration, then yes, synthetic will work just fine. I actually prefer synthetics, myself.

hrfdez I've been using it for a while in my rotation with both badger and boar, and so far it doesn't seem to be a big issue. The next day when I use a different soap, the discoloration fades completely. But if you want to be safe, use a synthetic or a cheaper boar.
