B&M Lavanille color

lavanille was my favorite soap... until leviathan came around.

Can you describe Leviathan please? I have read many reviews on it but they are all over the place. Does it have a strong coffee scent to it at all? That would be a good thing by the way.

I get leather and coffee as the main notes.

My take on Leviathan ... it does not have a strong coffee scent.   Yes it's there, but leather is the more obvious note.  Personally, I'm not sure I'd have pulled coffee and sandalwood without the help of the label on the tub!  It's worth mentioning the coffee note is far more noticeable in the aftershave splash.  

I'll also mention I do NOT pick up any chocolate.

I've traded away B&M Latha, VHCS and Saeryan, but Leviathan is in my den to stay.  I think it's a great scent.

I didn't realize that Barrister & Mann Lavanille was so controversial. I quite like it, great scent, excellent performance. I can't recall any colour issues and to be honest if one of my brushes takes on the colour of a soap its not the end of the world. It washes off eventually. Try some of the Rose or Violet scented soaps that are pink and purple and you have a pretty psychedelic brush for a while but the brushes are there to be used. My heirs will have to buy their own dang brushes after I'm gone.

For what it's worth, my take is that the coffee is there but it's rather subtle. Smelling the tub gives me nothing but leather, but once you've lathered it up the other notes come out more.

Back on the Lavanille, I think the vanilla is a bit less prominent in the aftershave. In particular I can pick out the musk better, especially after the dry down.

I bought two tubs of LaVanille in 2014, kept one for myself and gave the other as a gift.  I'm just about through it as the bottom of the jar is near, now I never picked up on any sort of chocolate note...musk yes but chocolate no!  The only fragrance I own/use/wear that has any chocolate in it, that I can discern, and the chocolate note was one of the main reason I bought the frag, is LIDGE, an EdP by Guerlain.  Forgive me if I'm going off in a different tangent from your soap thread but the gourmand note of chocolate has been offered up with LaVanille a few times, and I just don't get it with LaVanille (my 2014 version), but LIDGE, is it ever the chocolate bomb, and I'm not so sure I'm a huge fan of it

I like the Lavanille  scent. It seems to have a subtle chocolate note to me but overall very nice scent. Did not find any staining from the brown color.  The Leviathan on the other hand, has a horsey barnyard scent which I didn't care for.

Thank you for sharing. I only get chocolate on the initial sniff. I have to say, this scent is growing on me and I have a feeling I will end up using it.

though it doesn't smell like it, per se. i get leather, a sweet musk, bits of coffee and a charred sandalwood. it's genius stuff.

the coffee is much more forward in the splash, yes.
