I had a great first shave with La Faulx this morning!
Some background: I shave my head and face typically every other day. I mostly use efficient DE razors with a bit of blade feel (my current favorite is the Yates 921-EH). I do have some experience with artist club razors. I own a RazoRock Hawk V3, a Blackland Vector (which I have only used once so far), and a kamisori-style AC shavette. I previously owned an Alpha Claymore Evolution.
La Faulx looks and feels amazing. The weight and balance are superb, and the handle is really impressive. The narrow spots on the handle are in the perfect place for a variety of comfortable grips.
I loaded La Faulx with a fresh Schick P-30 and shaved my head first. I had two days' worth of growth. After reading previous posts describing this razor as mild, I was afraid that it might be too inefficient for my tastes. But that wasn't the case. It certainly does feel mild, but I still managed to get a BBS shave on my head after two passes and some clean up. This thing is extremely smooth and comfortable. The post-shave feel on my scalp after a good AC shave can't be beat. After this shave, I'm wondering why I haven't used any of my AC razors in the past few months.
I did a three pass shave on my face and also got great results there. There are some spots where I didn't get as close as I usually do with my regular rotation of razors, but the shave was very nice overall. With some razors, shaving my mustache area against the grain isn't always comfortable and doesn't always give a BBS result. But buffing against the grain on my upper lip with La Faulx was extremely comfortable and yielded a very close shave.
When I heard that this razor was mild, I was afraid that I'd end up with irritation from chasing BBS and over shaving. That wasn't the case at all. I might prefer a touch more blade feel and efficiency from this razor, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice any of the smoothness and comfort. I really appreciate the opportunity to test this razor!
