Buy directly from SdM. Ideally, find another person and go halves on the postage.

There are plenty of excellent European soaps and soapmakers. But hype in shaving forums is cyclical. A few years ago, MdC, MWF, DRH etc were the usual suspects in 'favourite soap' lists. These days, however, MdC is frequently pilloried as 'drying' and mediocre.

At the moment, American artisanal offerings are receiving a lot of exposure. They are definitely worth getting hold of as they can offer excellent performance and a wide range of scents. I would suggest you import directly from the soapmaker themselves rather than from an importer (for murky moral/legal reasons) but that's an issue for another thread.

Can't find the seller for this one. Any idea who sells it?

You can buy direct from http://www.la-savonniere-du-moulin.com/

TVB Shaving carriers Barrister & Mann Black Label, Strop Shoppe, Lebelle, and Tiki soaps as well as Fine aftershaves - all artisan products that I've tried and enjoyed.  I highly recommend Barrister & Mann and Strop Shoppe (especially the Strop Shoppe Limited Editions) soaps and the Fine aftershaves

Edit: I should also mention TVB has Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements, Soapy Bathman, and Shaver Heaven (Australian) - but I have yet to try those (I have Shaver Heaven Forbidden Forest on deck to try soon).

Try them all, find what works for you. There's a reason YMMV is our mantra in the wet shave world!

I agree with the other posts; however, to know whether you're missing out maybe you should try an artisan soap. I suggest you consider some of the leading artisans with reasonable prices. Stirling and Soap Commander come to mind. Maybe try a scent that sounds good and which you can't get from the big boys. It might be worth the $15 or so to find out. What products do you use now?

I added 2 artisans to my collection and I am happy wih their performance and sent.

But i will not be adding more software to my collection as I addopted the a rulw. To add a product to my den I must finish something I already have. I dont see myself finishing anything in 2015 Smile

To each his own but you are missing out on many new great artisan products that are not very expensive. You have great artisans like Catie's Bubbles, Barrsiter & Mann and Razorock and up and coming artisans like Shaver Heaven, Tim's Soaps, Beaver Woodright, Cold River Soapworks, Chisled Face to name a few. It is a golden era for the wet shaving community.

Good to hear you enjoy them! So which artisan items did you get?

I haven't tried any Haslinger. I've read some very good reviews though. Dimitris' Bergamot has a nice but very mild scent. I would like it to be a bit stronger. The performance is very good indeed, Dimitris is doing a great job, no doubt, but there are better artisanal soaps out there, in my opinion. Some of them: Le Pere Lucien, Pannacrema and Dapper Dragon. LPL is vegan, but the performance is outstanding. Give it a try.

Χαιρετισμούς Ηλία.

Hi Nick and thanks for the advice.

I will try to stay away from buying new soaps as I have enough to last me many years.
