"Artisan" Fragrances/EdTs - What's the Consensus?

My schnoz determines if a fragrance finds a spot in the den and not the name brand label. Some of my favorite AS and EdT are from artisans. The current big name brands were regarded as artisan in their early days.  Besides, I have heard bathtubs are best reserved for gin.  

Since there has been a good amount of time since everything has been released, I'm wondering what people's thoughts on scent and performance quality is. To me, for upwards of $50+ (in some cases), I'd rather purchase a complimentary scent from an established company. Or if I want to support a small operation, I'd buy an interesting scent from a niche house, rather than joe blow mixing chemicals and oils in his basement. It seems to me, wet shaving vendors selling fragrances is akin to the level of an amateur Etsy seller.

So you just assume that artisanal shaving makers are untalented and uneducated? I can tell you for a fact that is not true. I have taken educational courses and certification courses and my fragrances sell outside of the shaving world. Just because someone makes shaving supplies doesn't make them untalented or unable to properly understand the art of perfumery.

Shawn, keep doing what you do in the heart of St. Louis. I think people love and appreciate what you're doing as evidenced by your growing popularity. No disrespect to the big companies but come on, they brought the world Axe Body Spray.

I once made the mistake of trying Axe shaving cream and if the body spray smells anything like that then all I can say is... .  In other words, scent is a personal preference and has little, if anything, to do with the "house" it came from.  So hawns, any timeline on when Chatillon Lux Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli EdT may become a reality?

Henry Ford once said you can buy my cars in any color you want as long as it is black. Then cars came in different colors and today there is a multitude of hues that adorns autos. In my younger years the colognes and aftershaves we had available were Old Spice, English Leather, Canoe, Brut, Aqua Velva to name a few. And no matter where you went you would smell these fragrances on men and frankly I got tired of it. Woman on the other hand had dozens of fragrances available. I enjoy the fact that there artisans that are experimenting with various men's fragrances. We all are aware that some of these products can be very expensive from well known fragrance houses; however, these new products that are manufactured by artisan soap makers are are in my opinion much more affordable. I like knowing that there are new fragrances being developed. My feeling is if this bothers you simply don't buy them. The market place will determine what stays and what goes. I encourage any artisan to experiment with new products.

No definitive release date for the Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli, but for sure this spring. Maybe in conjunction with the release of the spring seasonal scents. But it's for sure happening, so no worries!

This is a good question. I could see why it would seem that way from a St. Louis because the Ancient Order of Hibernians started the annual St. Patrick's Day parade in Dogtown (the Irish neighborhood), and it's fairly common (there's a new multi-use building being constructed in Dogtown at the moment called the Hibernian), but since it's a national organization, it would be hard to say for certain.

Otherwise, the only web presence that I've managed to find is through retailers who carry their fragrances, and they say it's made in and imported from Ireland.
