I wonder if Apex will be offered in bronze/brass or copper at some point? I've the Kopparkant Plus on order and looking forward to trying it once it arrives. Then again, maybe a stainless Apex would be a good choice. Nice to have a similar "house" style between them but different appearance due to different metals used.

I would love a machined SS Apex. I'm not crazy about the finish on the current one.

Are the Drakkant and Apex plates interchangeable? I know the Kopparkant and the Drakkant are.

I don’t believe so. They are totally different geometries.

Ok, I was just curious.  I'll have to compare the Apex to Drakkant to Yates at some point.  Love my Yates EH open comb, The Drakkant open comb is great too.

Sorry I'm late to the party, have been away renovating my house. I just had my 1st shave with the Apex AL and have to say this is the only aluminum razor I've tried that I actually like. Henson, Standard, Razorock...etc. were not my cup of tea. This is even better than many of my SS & Ti razors.  I used a Personna med prep and had a super smooth & efficient shave. Well done Ayslworth!...now I "need" the SS version  Big Grin

I was hoping to curve all hardware acquisitions to zero for the remaining '24 as of my last purchase which was theTiGlide S1 by Titaner (excellent shaver mind you) minus the potential of obtaining the Copper Diamondback which is still projected to be available for this month as far as I know. However, I was hit with the Aylsworth newsletter on their newest release, the Apex-Ti. Before I confess to what transpired, allow me to give a quick explanation of what and why of what transpired last night.

For those that don't have nor the care for reading the reason(s) of my actions, yes, I ordered the Apex-Ti. For those that want to know the why, read on. A couple years back when Aylsworth first came on to the razor production field, they sponsored a pass around for their first release, the Drakkant in Stainless Steel. Long story short, I participated in that pass around and though I found it to be a good razor, I didn't consider it to be a great one nor a razor that I felt at the time was a premium/luxury/performance based razor. The look was rather drab in my eyes and just didnt feel like a premium razor. I was very harsh on my criticism of their first release and felt that I could have and should have cut them some slack on their first entry. I've wanted to somewhat make amends for the harsh review on the Drakkant and I told myself that if they ever produced a Ti version of their Drakkant, I'd jump in and acquire and be more fair in my assessment. We'll, I missed the Drakkant Ti when it was released but, when the Apex showed up in my email, I snapped one up and I'm willing to give it a fair go. I owe it to them Aylsworththat is, the members here and myself to be more fair in my findings & experiences with their products. They have actually received some very favorable reviews from their releases so, I believed it was due on my part.

That's the truth of the reason behind my purchase and I'm sticking to it. And it's in Titanium. I like Titanium.... Tongue

Just got home from work and opened up the mailbox to find that the Apex-Ti had landed today. I opened it up and was nicely surprised at the finish overall of the razor. This is the as is machined finish and it looks quite good as it stands. Yes, there are subtle machining marks and path lines from the mill end but, I can live with that perfectly fine. It looks clean and well built with just a hint of that raw industrial look. Overall presentation was very nice with a nice personal note added from the owner which was graciously appreciated on my part. It’s those little extra touches that separate the have’s from the have nots.

I’ll have a shave in within the next 24 hours as I’m just beat up from the work day. A couple pic’s below just to give fellow shave members a looksy….
