Well that's good Eric, because I was coming up with nothing. Lol. I don't know why I thought it was me. I guess I'm just sensitive to accidentally offending folks.

Happy Wednesday folks!

So I'm still looking for that nice cheap extra 26mm synth to use.

Today I jumped on a really questionable one on Amazon, simply because it was cheap (~14 with tax) and they have free, easy returns. Figure I could see it in person and gauge how large the glue bump is, backbone, etc. If it's not what I'd use, it gets returned at my local whole foods which is ~5 minutes away.

It looks very much just like those old Dscosmetic brushes. Never used them, so it means nothing to me. I'll know for sure Friday.

My next lead is probably the Phoenix Art Acc Doppler brush. With shipping and tax it'll be $28? Still cheap, just not as rock bottom as this current attempt. Only review I could find is one of those YT reviewers... Mark Szorady. It seems like a good option, but we'll have to see if/when I get to that point. [Image: a7343be407e6924de05a7139cc4d826b.jpg]

As long as you can shave with blades you like.

Non sequitur - pet peeve- you mention in a forum that you really enjoy a particular product and then that guy chimes in with yeah, I like that one too but only the pre reformulation version circa 19-sometime before you were born and everything after that is crap.  Why do they do that.

Sorry, now back to our regularly scheduled programmingSmile

I'm just going by what I found which claims the blue and white are simply 10pks of the red blades, designed for the European market. Take it with a grain of salt, I read it on the Internet. Same with the Israeli part... the interwebs told me they moved it to Germany. Could be wrong or a half-truth? It seems nothing is easy with deciphering Personna packaging.

I'll have to get back to you on the reformulation thing. I'm still trying to figure where I said that (and what I exactly said). Regardless, my apologies Mark. Didn't mean to upset anyone.

I thought Mark was referring to a ficticious know it all who chimes in on a post made already, starts positive then adds a bunch of unobtanium unicorns about why his stuff is better. At least that was how I read it. I thought he was sort of poking fun at his earlier comment. Remember, Mark is a Canadian and therefore very polite! I don't think you pushed him far enough to get a mean post!
That’s exactly right Eric! I’m sorry Paul, I didn’t mean you! It’s “that guy”. He’s always chiming in. He has the best soap, best gear, smoothest shaves and don’t even mention his lather!! I would never say mean things. Usually Smile

Man, I like the color and shape of the brush! And it does not appear to be radioactive!

Haha. Nope, it does not look radioactive. The handle absolutely is identical to the Dscosmetic one out there. Heck, it might even be their whole brush, just sold under a different name.

The knot is the big question. I'm going on the premise that there are only a few synth knot manufacturers... so it's likely as good as a Maggards, a DS Cosmetic, or whatever other brush maker you can think of that makes this old-school tan diddy.

Also going on the return policy of Amazon. All I need to do is see the brush in person and be able to run my hand across it... I'll know if it's junk or acceptable.

I'll definitely post when it arrives, so everyone can find out if I did well or got bamboozled by my own thriftiness. Lol.

Well, in the meantime I got this arrival in the mail... a set of dice. These are replicas from a guy on Etsy. It's a remake of the 'BECMI' dice set from the early 80s D&D red box.

They were cheap (crappy) dice even back then, but it's a huge happy memory for me. I even got them made without 'ink', so I could color in the numbers myself, with a white crayon (like the original ones).

For anyone wondering, the book behind it is a reprint of The first adventure I played: Palace of the Silver Princess. It's a fun little display in my home office. [Image: 5228fc72ff8c3c464641c3ac03db7e00.jpg]

Well the purple brush arrived today and immediately went back. It didn't turn out how I expected it would at all. I expected if it had to go back, it would be due to an horrible knot. Not the case. The knot was pretty good. A no frills older style tan knot, but with very little glue bump. It splayed well, and had medium backbone. The problem was, it was not a 26mm brush as advertised. In fact, the knot measured 23mm even with a caliper. So, it is likely a 24mm brush, and not even a dense one.

Wasted time, but at least I had the easy Amazon returns. It's already refunded and on its way back. [Image: 29197f4774efca91052b0e79b4151160.jpg]

Another one bites the dust!

Two tubs kicked this year, that's impressive for me. I feel accomplished, and thrifty. This is such a nice feeling.

I went back to the German Red Personna blade again. What a great shave! If this one and it's 2 buddies (I think I have that many left) work this well, I may have to invest in a few hundred when money frees up. In the meantime I have these few, as well as my horde of Personna CC to keep me company. Lol.

Have a great evening everyone![Image: f16bf6a5d3cfe72d2cc96149c5fddea6.jpg]
