Anything that can go wrong will happen while I'm shaving...

So this evening was the first shave with the turn n shave brush knot. I have to say, I'm absolutely impressed. It's as soft as the Synbad and super dense and fluffy. It was simply awesome to use. In fact, when I finished the shave, I looked at my other brushes and wondered if I needed to swap any more out... I was that impressed.

I can't say with 100% certainty that you'll love it, Eric... But I really think you will. In fact, I'd be shocked if you didn't. Still, there always the chance I misjudged. Nonetheless, if you need a good APShaveCo alternative, here it is (IMO): The Turn N Shave Quartermoon synthetic.

I looked my other brushes over and decided I needed one more go-round with the turn n shave. Again, I walked away impressed. What a great shave.

(Of course the razor and the blade had most to do with that, lol)

Over five years of traditional shaving, yet I believe this is a first...

So, at this point I've come to the realization that I just prefer the aluminum overlander to the brass. It's just that much better.... Or I should say smoother. In fact, I'm just about at the point where I may either look to trade my BRG coated brass for another aluminum, or just buy another aluminum outright. We'll have to see if the feeling keeps with me.

Regardless, tonight's shave was good. Again, I used the Zingari soap. I think, at this point, I'm excited by the prospect of killing a tub of soup. In the last few days I've made sizable progress. It won't be long now.

Makes sense. It definitely is thicker on the outside. So it'll definitely be a while. Probably a month or so, as I shave every other day.

It's not like I have another scent in waiting to switch to. It's unscented, and I have a tub of the same waiting to be opened next ... So no real rush. Lol.

Still, it's fun thinking I'm close(ish) to finishing one. It'll be the first time in 5+ years.

The Rogues Gallery...

The big green handle, sitting next to the rubber set restore, has always been a problem for me. Though the Etsy listing stated it was a 26 mm handle, it was drilled so wide, I was able to fit a 28 mm in it. Most 26 mm knots swam in the gaping hole.

This ordeal with the AP knots being too big had me thinking. So I decided to pull the 28 I had in it and try the 27.2 knot AP sent me as a 26. Viola! It fits pretty well, without looking 'comical'.

While a 28mm knot is too big for my liking, the large glue bump 26 is perfectly fine. So, not only was I able to utilize the odd sized knot, but it allows me to use a handle that is near and dear to my heart. Win-win!

Figured I'd share my 'success'. Happy Wednesday folks.

I feel the need (or the want?) To explain the "line up". Every handle there has a special meaning...

From Left to Right:

The fluffy handle was from a great guy here who thought of me when making these unique and thoughtful brush handles.

The next one is my first special order... My first Trotter... A piece of history when Paul originally began his (now booming) business. I'm so proud of how well he did in brush making.

My first wood brush, my first handmade handle... and a super kind gift from Steve (Graydog). Yes, this is a brush from that famous fallen tree in his yard.

My only vintage handle, made by our very own Freddie. A piece of shaving history and a handle made by a good friend here. Another star in the brush industry, IMO.

The next two were brush handles my beautiful wife bought me a while back. I'm very happy I could get the green one back in service. Coincidentally, today is our 20th Anniversary. Yea!

The dark green one is a Trotter Oscuro handle. Made by our very own Paul, and bought when there were only a few in circulation and us DFS'ers were the sole members in "Club Oscuro".

The last one is a gift from Eric Smattayu during one of his give aways. I chose the shape for it. It's based on the design Stirling has for one of their own handles. A generous gift and unique handle, imo.
