JUST SIT RIGHT BACK AND YOU'LL HEAR A TALE, A TALE OF A FATEFUL... Oops.
So, I decided to thoroughly clean my Henson Titanium razor today (Dawn dish detergent soak and a thorough scrubbing). This little chore ended in a horrifying surprise.
As a bit of history... This thing can get "tough to screw and unscrew. I try to clean the threads often, which build up a fair amount of tarnish quickly (post is Brass, handle is titanium). So when I was looking at the razor more closely I noticed how rough the tip of the handle was. I took a picture to zoom in better. Here is what I discovered! That is a Titanium thread, crumbling like dry cake! Has anyone seen anything like this before? Fwiw, the brass post is in fantastic condition.
I sent a message to Henson, and their initial response is shock, as well. They want me to send it back so they can examine it. That's going to obviously be dependent on the cost, as that's on me to pay. I'm still waiting to hear if my warranty replacement is hinging on being able to return this one (guess it kind of makes sense) and what the changes they've made to the new Ti razor are since I bought mine (just over a year ago). As it is, the Titanium is a bit more agressive than the Aluminum, and both are at the top of my 'comfort zone'.
Fwiw, I shave every other day. While I had a large amount of time using the Henson, it's certainly wasn't every shave of the year. I'd guess, maybe 150-160 shaves on this razor? It's titanium, so I thought it was supposed to last a long time. I couldn't have used it too much, could I have?
Just solidifies my suspicion... I have no right trying to own something that fancy. Fate got me and good.
