Hey guys,

I'm curious how many use wedges or near wedges on a regular basis? You don't see them nearly as much in the SOTDs as full hollows and the like. I'm sure there's a massive difference in feedback (or lack thereof). I think it would be fun to try.

Cheers,
Eric

I have a few ,I have not used them in a long time though.

They are simply a heavier blade to use . Some like them for the lack of feedback or vibration, though if you hone them well ,they shave as well as any other grind.

I have two wedges and a western-grind Kamisori that is 1/4 grind. I actually prefer them to my full-hollow ones even though
I don't use straights very often.
You should be aware that they are much heavier to hold than the full-hollow ones and can potential cause some discomfort in your hand if you aren't used to the weight. Furthermore, they take more time to hone. Shy

I have a decent selection of wedges and near wedges that I use regularly in rotation. Combined I have about 7 or 8 quarter hollow to wedge...

In fact I used Red Imp near wedge tonight...

I rotate through a few wedges. I don't think I prefer any one grind over any other, though I've one really big Greaves which is awkward because it's really long in addition to being a Wedge.

I will acknowledge that they're a pain to hone though.

I like heavier grinds better. I am not sure why but my guess is that I like the extra weight without the added blade state of a bigger blade. Silent assassins ...

I've only got one. A Engels that says it's a "Wedge" but I think "near" wedge is a better description.
I really enjoy'; as in I get giddy when it comes up in rotation! The weight is nice, feel is great, and it's a silent wisker killer.

I plan to purchase several more wedges in the future.

I've only been SR shaving for about 13 months so take my opinion for what it's worth.
