More and more I seem to enjoy less dense, floppier, low backbone knots. To me I enjoy the better flow thru, painting effect of higher loft/floppiness, and easy splay abilities. Had a maseto silvertip 26mm and loved how it felt, but ended up to big for me so sold it. Now I have a Paladin 26mm which is more of a two band. I love it, but find myself reaching for my synthetics more (PAA Starcraft or AP shaveco synbad) I’m starting to think I want to give silvertip another try. Anyone with these preferences have any recommendations on where to source a silvertip knot from? I already have the handle. Or maybe I’m just a rarity that doesn’t like characteristics of 95% of what people like nowadays. Oooorrr maybe I just enjoy synthetics more. Still working on figuring out my niche in this shaving world.

I'm probably one of the few but I like Synbad but the motherlode even better. I think the motherlode is a makeup brush worked over to be a shaving brush. It is dense but very soft and easy to splay but I guess slow on the flow through.
I've never used the PAA Starcraft ,what's it like?

I didn’t think I was going to like it but I love it. 24mm but with its high loft it feels more like a 26mm when splayed. Builds lather quick as hell and holds plenty to provide the same lather for all 3 passes. Painting is a joy with it. It’s kinda unlike any of my other brushes due to its high loft. My badger is enjoyable but it seems like the best lather is from the first pass and then degrades for the following re-lathers.

Kent brushes have exactly the characteristic you describe. They are fantastic but overlooked these days. Lathering any soap is a breeze. If a little more backbone wanted simply employ a hair band such as used for ponytails

You might take a look at the Parker Silvertip brushes. They are 22 mm knots with long loft bristle. The tips are very soft and the brush is somewhat floppy. Because it is floppy, I use it primarily when lathering creams and very soft soaps. For most soaps I like brushes with more backbone, but it might be great for you. I love the weighted handle.

I’m with you. Although I like a bit of scrub, low loft scrubbers are no good for me. I generally set knots a bit higher than most like them.

Sound like some of the brushes that might interest me

It's funny because I was thinking the same thing a few days before you posted this. I've been following this post along with your other one, and I've ordered a HMW from elite razors. The knot arrived, but I'm now waiting for a handle that I've already commissioned from Viking soaps. Should be about 3 weeks. I'll report back Happy2
