To preface, I am not a cologne wearer and up until the past couple of years even avoided AS in favor of straight Witch Hazel. I have finally seen the light on the AS splashes and love a good burn + menthol but do prefer something that dissipates rather quickly or on the more subtle side.

Having said that, I recently broke down and picked up the infamous Alt Innsbruck. Tobacco, menthol, what's not to like? Add all the rave reviews from community members and I had to see the magic for myself.

I used it after my shave this morning and absolutely love the face feel, strong burn and the lingering menthol. My question beomes: how much is enough? I used my normal splash amount (I would guess somewhere between half and a full teaspoon) and this stuff is STRONG! As in really STRONG!

The scent is a good one, albeit on the sweet side but I for one really need to dial it back.

How about the rest of you? Thoughts on AI and best use? Love it? Hate it? Tips and tricks?

I really like it, Kevin. The scent tends to linger, subtly and I'll forget I have it on. Then, in the evening, if I am soaking in a warm bath,  the scent comes back so I guess it was always there. How much to use is obviously a personal choice so trial and error will set you right, I'm sure. Smile

Thanks Freddy- I very much enjoy it as mentioned but it it more potent than my other choices. The menthol is outstanding as well.

My wife was at the gym when I left for the office so the proof in the pudding will be her response when I get back home!

I just left a meeting and nobody complained, so far so good Smile

Why would anybody complain? It's Alt Innsbruck, after all, a true classic. Happy2

I used the "thumb over the hole" method and just eased some out. Do agree that a flow restrictor would be great though.

I would rather have an atomizer bottle for splashes, be they aftershaves, colognes, or eau de toilettes, rather than a flow restrictor.

Hi Freddy, I have never used an atomizer.

What is the benefit or what do you like most? Thanks!

I love Alt Innsbruck as well. The scent, performance and lasting menthol-cooling sensation make it one of my top five splashes. The method I use for application, which I find gives me the perfect amount, is index finger over the opening and exactly four drops. I've tried 3 and it wasn't enough and 5 was just too much scent for me.
