Alpha Shaving DE Razor Passaround - Call for Participants

Hi All,

Here's the pass around list. Vlasta is going to send out two brushes and two razors, one for the West coast and one for the East coast. As per the usual DFS pass arounds, keep the razor for a week or so and then send it along to the next person on the list for your area. Once you have time, please share some feedback in this thread, whether good or bad.

As a precaution for the covid19 stuff, please soak the razor in alcohol, or something similar before using the razor and prior to shipping it off to the next person to limit our risks.

since the west coast list is done, rather than sending it to me since I'll be getting both of them at some point, let's move it along to the rest of the folks on the east coast list.

bobmsp, send the razor you have to dmshaver.

I was lucky to have 4 shaves with the Alpha razor and really liked the performance.

All of my shaves were smooth, smooth, smooth. I had no problems with the razor biting, but still got very close shaves. It has a small amount of blade feel for me but otherwise it felt wonderful as it glided across my face.

As I was using the razor, my thoughts turned to my smoothest razor - a Timeless 0.68 SB. So my last shave yesterday was a shave-off between the Alpha and the Timeless. I switched a single blade between the razors to make sure that I had as close of a comparison as possible. Both razors felt wonderful and gave a basic BBS shave with 2 passes and a little cleanup. As far as smoothness of the shave is concerned, I could barely feel the blade in the Alpha, but the Timeless felt perfectly smooth. The results were basically equal when I finished. 12 hours later I could feel a bit of whiskers on the Alpha side, while the Timeless side was still relatively smooth.

My bottom line: This razor basically held its own against the Timeless and you can pick one up for a lot less. If you're looking for a smooth, relatively mild shave I would strongly consider the Alpha DE.

I did not use the brush in order to minimize contagion risk. However, I did enjoy the feel of the handle. It's solid and substantial in your hand. It would be great to be able to pick up a handle so that I could install a badger knot in it.

This is cool so far guys and exactly what I wanted - full and frank feedback. I know it is not a selling thread but I do have Outlaw DE available in Mild and Standard blade gap and a range of lovely brushes that I will sell with and without knots.

Vlasta I love the handle on the razor and the brush! Very aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to hold. I'll report back at the end of my week with my experience using this lovely razor.
