Friday: Grooming Department Chypre d'ananas

This particular GD was my only missing early version of a Mo soap. I grabbed one per purchasing Coconut Fig from TRC. I never really saw frequent commentary or usage on this puck. Scent pyramid verbiage is always hard to interpret on any soap. I wasn't sure I would like it base on the scent pyramid description. Goodness, this is a top 5 GD soap for me [La Aventurra, NY Chypre, Cedarwood, Magnolia, and now Chypre d ananas]. I think Kairos was a great base. Easy to get a low profile slick lather. Yes, I try not to buy all new releases.... Would have missed a favorite. Exploration is fun right? [Image: e652d6fe301e0ff4e34c581980600101.jpg]

I'm so glad you picked up Chypre D'Ananas—it's one of my favorites! For the past few months, I've been using a prototype deodorant infused with this scent.

Nishane Hacivat was the inspiration for this scent. It's truly an underrated gem Smile I've seen countless posts on forums where people asking "What is Ananas?" Many seem to have overlooked the scent simply because they didn’t know what it meant!

I also love Kairos. I've revived it, and it's now the foundation for the upcoming Aioin Skincare Brushless Cream.

Deliver from The Razor Company came in today. Was expecting a tub of Tonka and Amore. Unfortunately, they shipped Candy instead of Tonka. The candy smells great, but I was really excited about Tonka. Will see if TRC has any left they can send for me to exchange.

I'm sorry about the mix-up. Top Of The Chain is planning to list their order late next week. Check their site if you still want the Tonka soap.

So after 2 face shaves and one head shave with the Mango using the new Mallard base with duck fat, I wanted to give a quick review of the shaving soap.

When opening the plastic tub, the scent was initially a disappointment; it takes a few seconds for the mango scent to fully unfold. It smells like mango, but also a bit tropical-fruity and almost a little sweet, like barbecue. It immediately reminded me of a Caribbean barbecue party with good food and plenty of cocktails...
The scent experience intensifies during lathering but is not unpleasantly overpowering. The lather itself feels really thick, probably due to the duck fat. It doesn't need much water to achieve a fine-pored, yogurt-like consistency that I prefer. The first time, I had to add a lot more soap because I had too much water in it, but the second and third attempts were much quicker, and it works better with a very loose synthetic brush, a clear advantage for the Mühle Silvertip Fibre knot.

The lather is simply fantastic, typical of Aion, nice and dense, and it really only needs a minute to sit before I could start shaving. The glide is absolutely top-notch, and there's plenty of ghost lather, so you can go over the same spot a second and third time. The post-shave care is really good. I waited an extra hour this morning before applying the matching aftershave because after the Aion Mango AS, my skin feels a bit sticky, but that disappears after 1-2 hours.

My conclusion is very positive. If you're looking for a strongly fruity-tropical scented shaving soap (croap) with optimal glide and conditioning properties, the Aion Mallard Mango is a great choice. I'd be happy to hear from others about the new Mallard base shaving soaps."

Key points from the review:

The scent takes a moment to fully develop, and it has a unique tropical-fruity and slightly sweet aroma.
The lather is thick and creamy, requiring minimal water.
The glide is excellent, and the soap provides good post-shave care.
The reviewer highly recommends the soap for those who enjoy fruity scents and high-performance shaving.

I was the reviewer in the German forum, thank you for quoting and translating…
In the meantime I have used the Mallard Tonka shaving soap and it was fine too, the scent ist really good and the lather similar to the Mango Shaving soap -what else?   Big Grin
Like the Mallard base shaving soaps a bit more than the Maxima, so go ahead and make more such excellent shaving stuff

Willkommen im DFS-Forum!

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! I'm delighted to hear that you're loving the Mallard base and the new fragrances

The formulas are constantly evolving. At one time, Maxima outperformed the earlier Mallards, and so on. Some still swear by Maxima as the best. But just wait until you try the upcoming Maxima Vegan Smile

Aion Mallard Coconut Fig

New Mallard Base: impressions follow....

°No fig or creamy coconut off the puck

°Upon lathering, almond, burnt toast, butterscotch, honey

°After first pass, opened up - toasted coconut, no fig

°After second pass, browned- pan seared coconut, fig?

°After 3rd pass, coconut pie, hints of ripe fig lurking in back

°Great slick, low profile okra snot like lather, Omnibus reminiscent

°Huge overfilled tub

°Dark dark puck

°Duck fat soap, sold out everywhere

°Lather looks like latté in color

°Great container and art work

°A fall winter soap - definitely a gourmand

°Pairs perfectly with National Hômme

¦¦. "Costume National Homme EDP opens with a pretty clear and present fig, sweetened and built out with grapefruit and bergamot, spiced and rounded with cardamom and spice"

The search for more fig based soaps continues for me. My summer favorite scent note. [Image: a602f2d9ea91ce8e8326e53c9cc6e093.jpg]
