When I asked @subset_music what he thought of Solhaven, he said, "It’s lovely; fitting for these hot days."

Another satisfied customer with Solhaven! Smile

Hi Mo, just shaved with Solhaven last night. Very Nice lather and post-shave.

Can I ask what was the motivation for the Optimus base? As if Kairos, Kairos SE, Maxima weren't outstanding enough, lol? I see a lot less ingredients than Maxima, but I likely couldnt tell the difference in a blind shave test. The base is also soft, like Kairos SE and Maxima.

Thanks
Ted

Hi Ted,

I'm glad you enjoyed using Solhaven. Thank you for your business.

I designed Optimus to replace Kairos and Kairos SE. In my opinion, it's quite different from Maxima. Maxima offers a unique level of glide that I haven't found in any other soap base I've tried. Of course YMMV Smile

The Optimus base is not at all like Maxima IMO. There's nothing else that is similar to Maxima. Its probably the slickest and densest lather there is. Optimus is far more similar to KSE from 2023. While I really enjoy experimenting with the different bases, I'd be perfectly content using a soap like Optimus that doesn't have 17 lines of ingredients in -46 font size to be able to fit it all on a label- and a few dollars cheaper to boot. I'll still support Mo either way because I, too, enjoy tinkering, and his scents are always amazing.

Lately I've been wondering if all of those extra ingredients in the soaps wouldn't be better used if they were in a post-shave product rather than in the soap. I've have some minimal ingredient soaps that leave me with similar post-shave skin feel.

I use many exceptional ingredients in the Aion Nourishing Balm, making it a product that rivals others sold at five times its price. The Aion aftershave also contains a variety of excellent post-shave ingredients.

I believe in diverse approaches to product design, which is why I offer Maxima, Mallard, and Optimus,  My ingredient selection is based on thorough research and insights from various cosmetic industry sources.

The wet shaving market offers a wide range of soaps at different price points. I'm glad to hear that you're finding products that suit your needs.

Well just to let you know, in my collection GD/AION soaps number 50+ along the with matching aftershaves and multiple bottles of balm. That's twice as many as my next most collected artisan.

The TRC scents from this recent release are likely my most accessible yet. If you prefer straightforward, mainstream fragrances over my usual complex, rich, and niche-leaning creations, this is your chance to experience something different. Smile

OG Kairos is still my favorite iteration among the various ones I’ve tried from Aion/GD.
Perfectly matured, flawless consistency, quick to lather up, zero interference with the scent. And to my face, the last manifest recorded improvement about post-shave. Subsequent bases are the absolute best in that department anyway, but consistency feels rather different to me, much softer.

Nevertheless, this didn't stop me from trying Maxima anyway Big Grin

FlashOne I love Mumtaz Smile I like how the soap is aging!

Kairos was a truly distinctive base. I think you'd enjoy the Optimus formula. I’ve managed to replicate Kairos' quick-lathering action while providing a unique post-shave feel similar to Kairos SE.
