just shaved with the tech tonight...I put the head on my att calypso aluminum handle and paired it with a very lightly used super iridium blade from another razor.

for the last few months, I've been shaving after showering. the thing I noticed with this is that I tend to get more weepers when I shave after showering than when I shave before a shower. I also used cold water for the entire shave, including washing my face with cold water and soap. after washing my face, I rubbed my neck with an ice cube to get it nice and cold...

the shave was pretty damn good. I'm not sure if it was the change in prep, using an ice cube, the razor, the blade, the amazing lather I got from the B&M latha soap or what...I did get 1 tiny weeper, but that's no big deal!

the tech felt smoother on the skin than the r41 after the shave tonight...

Sounds good but you changed too many things at the same time to be able to tell if its the razor or the prep. You should do the identical post shower prep you were doing before and see if the razor makes as big a difference. I'm intrigued because I've considered the ikon tech numerous times but have always stopped short of buying it because of the warning. I have the ikon short comb which is very aggressive and the thought of an even more aggressive razor makes me a little nervous.

not worth the effort or misery trying to find out 'what' the culprit was. in due time, I'm sure I'll figure it out. for now though, it'll be cold water shaves with ice cubes!

I understand - why risk another crappy shave when you've hit on a formula that works? Smile

hopefully it's repeatable! I'll probably shave tonight (it'll be 2 days since my last shave).

Out of curiosity, how did your subsequent shave (s) go? I'm now intrigued by this razor, the Ikon Tech. Aggressive razors and I seem to get along quite well. It inspired me to pull out my most aggressive DE razor that I haven't used in a while. The PAA EVO DOC SS. This razor can chop it up with the best of them. But, I placed an order for a Ikon Tech tonight. At $70 it's not a bad deal. And they are getting real hard to find. Anyways, the PAA delivered in spades. Love this thing!

Yes, it does look daunting. But with a good steady hand and technique, it's as smooth and efficient as any DE razor I've tried. Good blade feel and exposure. And absolutely NO PRESSURE! Shallow angle, just barely riding the cap and it's golden. But the Ikon Tech has me truly intrigued as fellow shavers have stated that it is the most aggressive DE in the business. Can't wait for mine to come in...
