A Tabac question

Digging through some old boxes I never unpacked after a move I found an ceramic tub of Tabac, completely untouched. I am under the impression that it is the old tallow formula, but was disappointed to see that the tub does not list ingredients. Is there some way to tell which formulation I have just from the jar?

Do you know when you bought it?

It's been in the moving box for about two years given the move date, but I don't recall when I actually bought it or even where. I had the idea that maybe I could find the date in my Amazon orders, but apparently I didn't buy it from Amazon.

That should be the tallow formula then. They've only switched over to vegan within the last year IIRC.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but I am suprised that there is no list of ingredients on the jar. I guess they must have been in the cardboard box the jar came in. Who knew that years later I would even care? The shaving hobby can take one down odd rabbit holes.

I have read that the new non-tallow is more white than the yellowish tallow Tabac.

Yes, whiter puck gloss like texture. First white reformulation below. You can see the tallow in ceramic jar is yellow and creamier in character. 

I have tried all including the newer non-tallow reformulations and there are two camps and some prefer the new V2 to the original tallow. I’m firmly in the original tallow camp. Much better lather, slip and finish. Soaps that start off without tallow like SV are great. It’s just when tallow is removed it’s never the same.

vtmax , nice call on the color.  The one I have definitely runs more to the yellow creamy than to the white.  Good to know, thanks.

I believe the label on the side of the jar also changed over time, but I'm not sure if the timing coincided exactly with the formula change.

True.  Notice the TABAC logo in the picture above is printed on a rising slope.  On the jar I have it is printed level with respect to the jar.  I too don't know whether this change in printing aligns with any change in formulation.
