What about a dehydrator? Why not? I find CB too gooey too. Plus their scents didn't rock my world. I kept Tonsorial Parlour though. It has a very unusual scent that probably wouldn't appeal to all.

Not to beat a dead horse but I tried that too. Didn't change the composition of the soap whatsoever. Maybe I was unlucky with a few of these? Who knows. Again, wasn't worth trying again, especially since the soaps were $20 a pop. I'm not sure I can think of a single other brand I had a consistency problem with like that.
I haven't experienced the goop issue with any of the soaps I mentioned above, their quality and performance has been excellent apart from being under scented . The lone exception would be Beaver Woodright which in addition to not smelling like anything except verrry mild lime it irritated my skin.
I have Caties Bubbles Midnight Dreary and I love it, scent, performance whatever its a top drawer soap. I also have Mickey Lee Italian Stallion and original Kraken and they're both great performers and well scented.
The thing about scent is that when I shave with a great performing soap that is under scented I'm not getting the full experience and thats the whole point! I want the Full Monty of shaving experience and all I have to do to get that is reach for one of several other great performing soaps I have that are well (I might even say properly) scented. This week has been All Bay Rum All the Time week for me and so far I've used the following great scented soaps:
Mike's Natural Bay Rum
Barrister & Mann Bay Rum
Dr. Jon's Anne Bonny Bay Rum
Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum
Tomorrow - Stirling Bay Rum
Saturday Mystic Waters Bay Rum
All of these are excellent well scented soaps. I'm in Bay Rum heaven. The tub of OSP Bay Rum is sitting there wondering why its not in the line up for Bay Rum Week. All I can say is that a soap better bring its A game scent wise to crack such a strong line up.

My first few tubs of Catie's Bubbles, bought in late 2014/early 2015, were fine as far as scent strength. But then about four months back I ended up with a very lightly-scented tub of Purple Grapefruit, which surprised me as I'd had a sample of it from a while before and the sample smelled great. I wrote in about it, and he suggested it would smell more strongly after the top layer was used up. But I haven't even used the tub yet.
I did also get Waterlyptus, which does have a good refreshing scent to it. I tend to agree that CB's performance, while fine, isn't really at the level of many other popular artisans. I also haven't liked most of the scents I've tried.

David : DE shaving since Nov 2014. Nowadays giving in to the single-edge siren call.

Very nice Bay Rum choices. Here's a quasi-negative comment: While I, on the whole, enjoy MW scents (the soap quality is unmatched) the Bay Rum didn't please me at all. Mike's is my favorite.

In my first impressions of Mystic Water, I said exactly that - in my very hard water conditions, it dried up on my face, dissipated before finishing a pass, and didn't work well during the shave (but now with a water softener it's one of my favorite artisan soaps). Instead of defaming or verbally bashing me (as some people did over my comments on CRSW), Michelle took the comments well and set out to improve the way that her product performs in hard water. I agree that there is intrinsic value in negative reviews, but people don't always react this way. Some brands in particular are immune to criticism largely because the powers that be on particular forums simply do not tolerate criticism. Because of this, I suspect that people do indeed keep quiet in order to avoid negative consequences.
I haven't listened to that Sharpologist podcast but it's clear that he's on to something.
That's the brand that almost got me banned on another forum.
Wear it like a badge of honor.
In my case, I am only proud that after a couple of years and a couple of thousands of posts, on a major site, I quit before I was fired. Admittedly after a couple/few martinis, but I called a Mod out (not even my fight, but just SICK of the condescension..) and was banned/shut off within seconds. I even got an email (not a PM) from the site's owner asking for specifics, and assuring me of being welcomed back into the fold, so to speak. (I wish I had saved all this for comic relief....)
Within reason, (personal attack, profanity, etc..) sites that won't let you speak your opinion are kinda scary if you think about it.

Dude - I've said this in many places. Customer service is what separates the companies. Well done.

There is nothing wrong with being a "fan". Passion is important. It's when fans turn obsessive that they become obnoxious.

Exactly. About all of them can get you where you are going. It's how much you appreciate the journey that matters. Well said.
