Woke up to a crisp 31F and frost on the ground. Fall is in the air. This tree is red already.

ML received a frost warning and brought the hanging planters in the night before.

We decided on a small road trip. First to a local restaurant for a hearty breakfast. If you go early this place is lovely. But it is a tourist destination. By time we left they were people waiting for tables. This is my sister in law and I.

After breakfast we went to a close town for the farmer's market.

We got some fresh beans. I also picked up a laminated french rolling pin. I don't need another but it was too pretty to pass by.

We took a drive through town and then came home. Time for taking another tree down.
Here I complete the wedge cut. The tree will fall in this direction and the open face cut allows the two parts of the trunk to fall in controlled way.

Here I am driving in wedges on the back or felling cut. The tree leans a little farther back then I like. I am dropping it in the other direction.

Here you can see the backwards lean as I work on the felling cut. I stop the saw and drive the wedges in as the cut progresses.

We cut to length split and stacked. You saw that in the other thread. This is today's stacked wood.

What better way to enjoy the fruits of one's labor than a fire.
ML has toasted the perfect marshmallow.

We watched the stars come out and enjoyed the fire and good conversation.

ML took this last picture. I went in and turned on all the lights. I think the pic looks really nice. Though it makes the house look like a mansion.

So another good weekend in NH. I cooked the green beans in a brown butter sauce. They were delicious.

That write up gives a nice feel for an autumn day in New England. Well done! (as usual)

Not many places have artillery like that to enforce the mask rule.  Big Grin

About the green beans - try them just boiled, and serve them with a bit of mayonnaise and mustard sauce (something like an 80/20 mix?) on the side. That's a big hit in our house.
