3D printed SE razors

Just got in today via UPS 2nd day air. I figured it would be a smooth clear finish. Will take it for a ride tomorrow as I have to let the handle cure in the head. Used JB Weld fast setting apoxy. This is the dot 1 version which is the milder of the three heads. If it shaves good will probably have Shapeway make me one with 2 or 3 dot not sure. Also maybe in a different color.

This looks excellent. I do wonder about the blade guards. Hard to tell in the photos, but are those corners protected?

Yes all ends are protected. No chance of pulling a Van Gogh. The razor is wider then the blade by the spine and continuing to the cutting edge of the blade. I used fast setting epoxy to mate the handle into the head. The head has a post that fits into the handle perfectly. Roger did a fantastic job creating this 3D razor. And the blade fits into the head snuggly with zero chance of movement. The acid test tomorrow morning.

First use was a very smooth but noisy shave. The dot 1 is a fairly mild shave but for the head size it gets under the nose with ease. Because the razor weighs only 6 grams with the blade it feels almost like a disposable plastic razor but much better. I will get the same razor in colors but Dot 2 which should be perfect for me.

Good to hear you got a smooth shave. A couple of questions, exactly what material is it, and is it 100% infill? according to my printing software, it should weigh between 18 and 20 grams in PLA without a blade. And also, did you find it easy to load and/or remove the blade? I'm testing a lighter and smaller version but with a round handle (you can see the difference in the pictures). I know the enders handle is a classic, but I'm still trying to get used to the square feeling.

Yes it weighs 17 grams. When I weighed it at .6 that was ounces. The plastic is smooth fine plastic. There were no choice of colors however I could have had it made in several different metals. Titanium is 12 grand ( I am not kidding) aluminum was about $88. I just ordered it in Dot 2 but used a different plastic so the head will be orange and the handle blue. I used epoxy to attach the handle. Came out great.

I guess chatter means when the blade vibrates or is not secure. This razor because the head is one piece when the blade is in place correctly it has zero movement. However, because the razor weighs only 17 grams there is a lot of noise while shaving. One other note the head must be flat against the face or zero degrees or you get no contact from the blade. Very easy to get use to.
