2022 is just about upon us. Over in the journals, some of us have been discussing how flagrant our spending has been in 2021 (and, well, since we started really). Thus this idea was born.

A purchase sabatical, aptly named 'Damn Fine Restraint'. Several of us have agreed to commit to a month by month sabatical, starting with January. Others may choose to commit to the whole year long. Regardless, this can be a landing page for our support, encouragement, and ridicule. Wait... Did I say that?!

So post up, who's with me?! I'll be starting slow, promising to not buy any shave gear for the very long and painful time of January. The withdrawal will surely be as cold as the weather here in NY.

Happy Shaves DFS!

I’m in  Happy2  I’ve got a nasty car repair bill that came up unexpectedly. My budget is directed to that for a while.

Excellent idea. My first year was spent in promiscuous acquisition. The next should be a year of thoughtful focus on what I have. I owe a debt of gratitude to DFS for making some great hardware and software available for a great price.

Sorry to hear that, Marko. I have a major appliance purchase coming up, so stopping impulse spending is needed.

I'm in for January, and most likely February. Great post, Paul D! Let the fun commence!

Great post Paul. I started last year and lasted a whole day before a MUST have was available and I bought it...................can't even remember what it was but it was worth it. Unfortunately it was downhill for me from there on. Going to give January my best shot and take it like a 12 step program and 1 day or month at a time. I'm in Happy2

I did a little cleaning up a week ago. It was cathartic. I can’t talk about it yet. Too fresh. Soon though. Maybe.

I guess this is ok idea for some.

For me the best I can do is use up two before buying one.

Even that is a stretch as I just bought a 10 scent sampler from Southern Witchcrafts  LOL

This is a good start...

What I hope to do is go through the posts on 1/1 and put up a single definitive post listing all of the "January DFR Entrants". That way we have a nice, easily reviewable list of targets... I mean friends to support.

Would you have to buy 1 sample for every 2 samples you use... Or are we looking at 1 full soap for every 2 samples you use? That'll snowball quick for the ole' bank account. lol.
