2022 DFR (Damn Fine Restraint)

Sitting tight and haven't actually bought Anything since saying I was doing this so mark me unpreparing but not unprepared 

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't preparing. Everything I bought was superfluous or downright silly.

Speaking of silly: I've been on the bay, several times this month, actually considered getting some more blades. You know, because the 500+ each of the two brand I use isn't going to last me a month?!?

Don't get me started on soaps. I can't smell them right now, yet I'm hunting for some new scents. How does that make any sense?!

It's a sickness, I tell ya.

Oh, I wasn't judging anyway. Just throwing it out there for the trolls that always seem to come by these threads and say, "what's the point if you go on a buying spree first". Just being clear that I didn't and wasn't saying anyone else did

I chose Feb 29 as my day of not spending

IMO it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.  I think the important thing is for each one to be fully convinced in his own mind about what he is or is not doing.  At any rate, I would not see the point to participating (for me personally, that is) if I did not think I could make up my own mind and be clear about whether I lived up to the letter and spirit of this gentlemanly exercise.  Nor do I see myself having any interest or business in second guessing anyone else's standards or success.

In other words, you’ll be participating this month at the BST? See you over there

"I'll be starting slow, promising to not buy any shave gear for the very long and painful time of January," wrote mrdoug at the beginning of this thread. What incredible determination, steel-like resolve, and ironclad commitment! With this kind of leadership, all I can say is "I'm in!" 

But 2021 taught me that whole month without ordering more soap or another razor is well beyond my grasp. Still, I just might be able to make it through today without hitting the PayPal button. And maybe I can get through tomorrow.

ExtraProtein: I'm a part of this bold enterprise! But I'm not in whole hog. My restraint only goes so far as soaps, razors, and brushes. Splashes, balms, blades, and talcs are still on the table.
