I have loved the fit & finish of the Sailors but have been scared of the heft of them but I figure it's worth a try.
The hybrid solves the heft „problem“ to 100%.
If weight is a consideration, go hybrid. Can't go wrong with either tho.

I've got the Osprey inbound. Hopefully that one works out too. It's roughly $400 with a stand, so in the ballpark.

As with all other adjustables, I'm concerned it won't open up for enough. A 1.4mm gap might not be enough...but the .58 on a BB shave like a much higher gap. Hope Shane worked the same kind of voodoo. The Osprey will have to deliver in spades to take shave time from the Sailor hybrid.

Yep, ditto on that concern with the Osprey but I have hope because of the aggression with the Blackbird. First shave will be all the way opened up on setting 9 to see what it can do.

Thanks, everyone,

Decided to buy the Rocnel Sailor 2022L I found used. I figure if it's too hefty I can try to move it and get the Hybrid. I love the looks of the Osprey and loof forward to seeing reviews on it.

Seeing pictures of how stunning yours is, is what sold me on buying it.

My first head shave with the new-to-me Rocnel Sailor 2022L. My first impression is this razor is smooth and stupidly efficient. First pass I was on setting 3 and turned it down to 2. Two-pass BBS. On level 3 it might be as efficient as my WR2 1.55. I did cut myself once, I'm finding the right angle to be a bit difficult on this first shave.

The first question is what should be used to clean and shine it up? There are what looks like water marks on the brass ring (hard to notice but I'm OCD).

The second question is when fully tightened should anything align with the anchor? I thought the dot would, but it's at setting 5 on mine fully tightened. So for me when I start turning up the settings the first level is the dot if that makes sense.

I'm assuming there is a way to adjust it so that when fully tightened down the anchor aligns perfectly with the dot.

Nice photo.  The cap "rocnel" text has to face away from the anchor. With a blade it should be on the dot almost dead even give or take a mm depending on the blade.   Wild to think he hasn't added a note or manual this many years into production.

Thank you!! I now have two shaves with it and I feel like I have been missing out for years by not getting one of these sooner. It's crazy how much better this adjustable razor is compared to my 1966 Gillette Slim. It's making me want to try a few more new-era adjustables.
