Living on the edge
Im digging the 2 piece aspect of this razor. As a result I only rinse it after use.
How are you guys cleaning yours?

I remember having a convo with the dude and he told me there were oils and
whatnot lubing the shaft (that didn't sound right hehe)...plus the fragile gold
plating...and one should be careful about using abrasives and alcohol etc to clean.

Thinking of just a soak in hot water with some dish detergent liquid...and then soft
bristle toothbrush and cotton bud to scrub lather channels...surely that wouldn't hurt,
could it?

I think the curved head looks better than the choppy, squared off design of some of the older models.

Beautiful razor. No possible way I could get one now, unless I sold off pretty much all of my high-end razors to fund it.

Still looking forward to more shave reports. One can always live vicariously.

You nailed it. I don't think you even need the toothbrush. Dawn dish soap is great. They use it to get oil off of wildlife. Gentle.

Quick question to those that know.. Would you say this new Sailor with the rounded top cap is an improvement over the last MC?

I've used mine twice...and not side by side so take it with a grain of salt. It feels a lot like the flat topped head. At first blush, the journey is too similar to justify a swap based on performance. Looks and finish may appeal to you tho.

If you give me a few days, I will run them side by and give you a better feel for any performance differences worth noting. If it would benefit.

Thanks for the input and a side by side would be appreciated for sure. I do have to say I like the look of the rounded top cap. One other question, is the finish on the rounded one any different than the MC? In the Bullgoose photo it looks like the Top cap is matte in comparison to the handle which looks like it’s polished.

According to Bullgoose, the new Rocnel has a lapped matte surface with the same lapping machine used by Rolex. The prior models did not have a lapped matte surface as far as I am aware.

This is consistent with my understanding as well. I gotta say the pics of the matte are quite nice looking.

The prior finish was Ziratsu. Another high end watch case finish.

My new one is lapped but it's much more polished than than the Bullgoose version.

How’d you get it polished James? Is that by special request to Murat ?  Like you I like polished when possible.
