Here’s a short video Murat posted with the new 2022 Sailor Master Collection. He has also shown some photos on his Instagram page recently and it looks like he has a lot of them made now. I guess he will start shipping them quite soon, although his website lists it as a pre-order for August, with the standard 2022L for June. Have any of you guys ordered either one? His website lists the 2022 Master Collection at €630 versus €440 for the standard 2022L, and it lists no differences other than the Master Collection being individually made rather than mass produced.

From brief correspondence with Murat a while ago he indicated that the standard and Master Collection versions are built separately in different workshops, and he said his idea is for the Master Collection to be made to the highest quality he can - he likened it to the Seiko vs Grand Seiko watch models.

Ordering is open on his website for the 2022 MC, I bought one even though I feel like my sailor from Bullgoose is defective. I’m hoping the fact that you can take apart the razor more with the updated design will decrease the risk of another dud I’m stuck with.

On my current sailor, most definitely one spring isn’t operating properly. When fully tightened with a blade and set to, say 3, you can see a larger gap on one side of the cap (left and right sides of the cap, not the safety bar/blade exposure side).

I emailed Phil and he just passed it along to Murat who asked me to email him directly. I did and he responded with the below, I can’t really understand it because I’m an idiot lol, but it sounds like fully tightened and landing on anywhere between 0 and 1 is fine.

He never responded to me again when I asked to confirm the above understanding nor addressed my possible sprint defect. I resent the email 3 times and it just kept going ignored. Really sad as people here seem to say he doesn’t have a guarantee or return policy per se but stands behind his stuff and will ask you to send him the razor back to make it right. I was hoping buying through Bullgoose that Phil would offer some sort of support if issues came up but I guess he doesn’t want to upset the apple cart and lose Murat. He was certainly shocked and understanding, but I mean, that doesn’t get me a fixed razor or money to buy another.

From Murat:

Hi Neil,

Thank you.

Let me give you information about the working principle of the sailor model.

The product has 5 active stages. The use of the product starts from the 1st stage. Some users also use the adjustment level between the dot mark and the 1st level. However, this area does not have a significant effect. The dot is used when the product is calibrated at the factory. It also serves to measure the thickness of the razor for the user. If you load razors of different thicknesses, you will see that the position of the dot mark changes. The dot mark is not a step. The dot does not need to be active with any hand. The product is factory calibrated to stage 1. If your product does not reach the 1st level, there is a problem.

Spring parts are of equal strength. The reason for micron stems is not the spring force. It is formed during the rotation of the shaft part. The up and down movement of the set-ticker changes the position of the plate. The situation changes when the blade part of the product is brought into contact with the face. The facial features copy the ball cap balance. In this way, hair pulling does not occur. Models before 2017 were single spring. This feature is applicable to models after 2018. This balance system continues in our new models. It is an important feature that distinguishes our model from other brands.

One of the quirks of dealing with M is that I suspect he uses google translate largely, so some
phrases make no fkin sense. I never faced problems like yours, but you should press Bullgoose
for a return if it's within the return window.

I have to chuckle when I hear some of the stuff I read from M....who cares if the MC is made in a
purpose built hermetically sealed chamber where the temperature is a constant 23ºC while the regular is built
in a facility in the middle of olive groves with a relative humidity that favours SS316 (I'm exaggerating
for effect but this is what he's basically saying: just immaterial embellishment that means nothing to
the customer). Is this supposed to impress? Just make me a razor worth $600 please.

A lot of what he says, I automatically discount...he once promised me he'd send me a razor in a wooden box
and assured me that my request had been recorded...however it showed up in the same faux leather box.
What can I say...hey bro, where's my wooden box? I even told him he could charge me extra but he does what
he wants.

Anyway, don't read too much into my "rant"....I respect the guy's talent...he made me a great razor and Im very
happy with it. The vibe I got off him is take what I give you and be happy, or move on....even James Dufour
gives off that vibe, as do many of the brush guys. What to do? Gotta suck it up or switch to Gillette carts.

Post pictures please. Make Phil take it back if you can.

If you want to chat with Murat, catch him on Instagram DMs. Send pictures. He will answer you. Understanding said response is all on you.

If the razor is jacked up...insist, to Murat, that it be sent back to Phil. Mailing back to Turkey yourself would probably be expensive and time consuming.

I got the wrong razor from Murat once. Rather than mess around we a return, we agreed to future favorable considerations in exchange.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Nailed it.  Thinking about going back to carts gave me a shudder though.  I took the easy road and bought one from LOOT, fully tested and approved by him as an advocate of the line.  If he didn't already have the prototype I'm sure he would not have let the 2020 go in the first place.  I count myself lucky to have been in the right place at the right time.
