To say nothing of enabling.

Now if I can just figure out Western Union...

It's clear as mud to me - I've never used Western Union before. (Other than long ago to send and receive a few telegrams.) - so I'll ask an experienced member, and friend, and, of course, anyone else who knows.

James, LOOT, may I ask you a question or two about this process?

I saw on DFS that you walk into a Western Union store, hand them cash money, and send it to Turkey to purchase a Sailor.

I have the vendor's phone number, and all that, and I know the price is $690, but I'm not sure about the process. I'm determined to go ahead and order the razor. The reviews are convincing. I plan to go into a Western Union location with cash money in hand. I will not use a credit card, bank, or debit card.

Do I tell Western Union the vendor wants the money in US dollars? I think that's what I'm supposed to do, but I'm not sure. Are there exchange rate issues I need to know about?

What sort of Western Union and other fees should I be prepared to pay? I'm just making sure I have the right amount of cash with me when I go to Western Union.

Have you found some Western Union locations particularly good or bad? It looks like there are tons of places where one can access Western Union.

Anything else I should know as I go about this?

I've also asked you about this this in a PM on B&B. Thank you so much for any help with this process.

Happy shaves,

Jim

Great to hear from you, friend.

Yessir, I walk into to WU location with cash. Give them a name and phone number, answer a few questions, and pay about a %10 fee. Off i go. Its pretty simple. It takes 3 minutes, tops.

I use cash to elimate evidence. Transaction papers are only retained until I know funds have been picked up. Then they get destroyed Smile

The only problem I ever had was when they asked, Do you know this person? Once, I said no and the transfer was blocked. I waited a few days and it went thru.

Others figured out how to use the WU app to do a cashless transactions but I avoid the receipts.

Take $800 with you and you will be golden. It is painless. I actually use a WU location in my local grocery store so its not even an extra trip.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

James

Wow. 10% fee? Yeah, some years ago I made a Western Union transfer with cash at a post office and the fee was nuts.

No idea how WU set their rates but for my Sailor I downloaded the WU app and set up an account. Was easy. Very easy to process the transaction too, which I used my visa card for. The transaction fee I was charged was only $2. Maybe the lower fee has something to do with me not being in the US and making a USD transfer, since WU would make a spread on the FX conversion as well (credit card companies tend to make about 2% on FX conversion, which is about the cheapest rate to convert currencies you can get).

Why are you so concerned about leaving a money trail, Loot? Are you a Columbian drug lord? ;-)

I ordered mine last week. Murat anticipates I’ll receive it mid December. It will make a fine Christmas present. Mine will be 47/50 (he mentioned to me that there will only be 50).

Also I’m a long time lurker first time poster

Congrats on the new razor...and welcome to DFS, Mr. Krishna.

Great news on the limited availability. I had not heard production numbers. Thanks for that.

Thank you, sir.

I may have some follow up questions and comments, but not just yet.

Apparently one - in the US at least - can set up the cash transfer online, and then just take the cash to a Western Union location. The fees are much lower doing it this way. I say apparently this can be done because I'm not 100% sure yet. I need to clarify something with the vendor before I proceed as he have me two different sets of Western Union information and I'm not sure with the second one that I understand the name (as in first name, last name) + he didn't give me a phone number on that second name.

I'll get it figured out.

Happy shaves,

Jim

Same problem. My wife makes the cartel look like a sweet little old lady sewing circle host.

Mostly what I just said isn't true, but when it comes to buying more shaving gear...

For today's shave I decided to focus on the 1 setting and see what's what.

Did the WTG on 3 and then switched to 1 for ATG and XTG on the neck.

Im happy to report that 1 is the child proof setting...you can use it to buff as much as you like,
without any irritation, and its great for ATG....I'll be using 1 quite a bit I suspect.

Also noticed that as I get used to the weight, Im not gripping as tightly as I did at first.
The light touch results in less pressure too.

And happy to report that a Gillette Platinum performs very well in this razor....good for
at least 4 -5 shaves.
