Oh no! It ate your face? Dial that thing back a bit for Round 2.

My shave today was on 6. Very close shshave. Enjoyed it very much.. A good bit closer than a 1.35, on my face. Closer to a setting 3 perhaps...which would be my recommendation for you next ahave.

Luk95  I enjoy a shift on the fly
( shave), but some probably don't so much.
I'm surprised how efficient on low settings these razors really are.
Hope you get a great shave with your Sailor soon, let us know how it goes.
The weight is a challenge for me but that makes it sort of a fun challenge.

I think so. You jumped in the deep end, for sure. I think it was cornbread who said he'd used one for 2 years and never gotten over 4. He is likely more in the mainstream as I doubt many guys go beyond that. It is fun to play around with in the upper gaps but it can be daunting.

The Sailor is one razor where I see no benefit to a Kai (extra exposure) or a Feather (extra sharp) as simply opening the gap will get you in the same ballpark. I like to use my favorite smooth blades in Sailors. For me that is GSB, Astra green, and Personna blues.

Try it at 3 with a smooth. It will behave like a totally different razor.

I liken the RS 2021 MC to one of those muscle cars with a 6 litre V12 AMG engine

For most of your shaving exploits you will only need a fraction of the RS' capacities

But you always know you've got a lot in reserve if need be.

Im willing to bet Luk95 may have used a not so light touch. At those gaps you have to literally
wield it like a conductors baton... not a tractor. It will get better for sure.

LOOT thanks for your answer . Yeah i think the Sailor have a learning curve . It’s not a razor that Performs at the First Shave perfectly . I Need with my WR2 1.55 also a few shaves to learn no pressure and a mild Blade .

I'm pulling the trigger on the RS 2021 MC and want to thank everyone for all their comments, reviews, and helpful advice.

To say nothing of enabling.

Now if I can just figure out Western Union...

It's clear as mud to me - I've never used Western Union before. (Other than long ago to send and receive a few telegrams.) - so I'll ask an experienced member, and friend, and, of course, anyone else who knows.

James, LOOT, may I ask you a question or two about this process?

I saw on DFS that you walk into a Western Union store, hand them cash money, and send it to Turkey to purchase a Sailor.

I have the vendor's phone number, and all that, and I know the price is $690, but I'm not sure about the process. I'm determined to go ahead and order the razor. The reviews are convincing. I plan to go into a Western Union location with cash money in hand. I will not use a credit card, bank, or debit card.

Do I tell Western Union the vendor wants the money in US dollars? I think that's what I'm supposed to do, but I'm not sure. Are there exchange rate issues I need to know about?

What sort of Western Union and other fees should I be prepared to pay? I'm just making sure I have the right amount of cash with me when I go to Western Union.

Have you found some Western Union locations particularly good or bad? It looks like there are tons of places where one can access Western Union.

Anything else I should know as I go about this?

I've also asked you about this this in a PM on B&B. Thank you so much for any help with this process.

Happy shaves,

Jim

Not an expert on how WU works in the US but here is my take.

The best thing is to open an online account with Western Union.
I find their website super glitchy but a necessary evil.
The signup process is simple but pay close attention to how they
verify you...without verification you can't send money.
I had to enter full name the way its registered in government records,
date of birth, exact address as per govt records. Their system is hooked
up to some sort of govt regulatory agency that possesses all this data
for cross-verification. One wrong answer and it won't verify you or approve your
transfer...and their customer hotline is somewhere in (cough cough) South Asia...so
you'll be talking to a south asian imitating an American accent.
Infuriating, but worth it for a rocnel sailor.

Do not just send money to Murat....I suggest you send him an introductory
email and then agree to text him from then on...its way faster.
Let him provide you a beneficiary name and tel number...he uses a few people
to collect money. He only uses cash pick up not bank transfer by WU.

Another interesting thing for me was he quoted the razor's price in USD, Euro and Turkish currency.
From my location (not USA), I can send all three currencies for cash pick up. Maybe US is different.
I tried each currency I got the best exchange rate when I selected Euro...meaning I paid the least in my
currency....the difference was quite stark for me. They accepted payment by credit card, but erase those
details once you're done or else they'll store it on their server.

They also had a promotion where I did not pay any transfer fee....which saved me quite a bit.

WU is trustworthy...I just found the user experience frustrating.
They won't steal your money.
