Just my 2c here.
I find the 2019 the most aggressive, the 2020 the least aggressive and the 2021 in between them.
My personal ideal would the the 2021 handle on the 2020 head.

Very much appreciated.  Good to hear that it is the least aggressive in the line.  I love the big features, both head and handle, and it feels balanced.  Tbh I was expecting it to be bigger given the side by side '20/'21 pics I reviewed but it fits my hand perfectly.  Since my perception of scale/size was off I suspect the 2021 version handle would feel too short.

My comprehensive review of the 2020 Rocnel Sailor.  First shave.

Conclusion: I don't see how the 2021 can beat it.  And no LOOT , you can't have it back. Smile

Ha! I figured you would enjoy it. I used my 2020 prototype when I mailed yours out. It is a fantastic razor for sure. Definitely a keeper.

Keep us posted and don't worry about sidetracked the thread, 2020 vs 2021 is conversation that needs to be had. Thoughts from new user is invaluable when trying to decide.

I would like to know, at some point, like to hear your opinion on the Sailor vs Janus vs Janus prototype. That would be another good conversation. I know you fancy both of those models.

re. Sailor vs. Janus LE vs. Janus Prototype:  I admire Eric for his accomplishment with the prototype design but the LE doesn't have the chops to be considered next to the others.  The Sailor vs. the Janus Prototype will be a tough call.  After tonight's shave with the 2020 Sailor I think it will at least tie the JP, maybe beat it.  I'll have to use them both during a few shaves to decide.

While I am on the subject: The Sailor excelled at ATG. It was amazing.

Out of curiosity, any reason for starting on 6?  And with a Feather?  The Rocnel is known for its ability to crank up the heat on higher settings while remaining efficient and smooth, but I would think that's beyond R41 territory.  An Air Force saying - "There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots."  Sounds like an old, bold shave.  I salute you!   Cool

I have been shaving with a sailor for 2 years and have never gone above a 4. Usually 3 will give me a 2 pass short-lived bbs

Living on the edge
For daily shaves I would recommend a setting between 2-3

My neck requires sideways strokes to get it absolutely smooth and for this I need to bump it
up to about 4

I would only go over 5 if I had neglected to shave for 4 days and above.
