Note that the Master Collection model with this solid gold ring is priced at USD 1,550. The Master Collection model with gold-plated ring is USD 690.

Just clarifying to avoid anyone misunderstanding and expecting that their razor will have a solid gold ring.

Where did you see pricing? I assumed there was an upcharge but didn't see pricing.

8.2g of gold (today's pricing) is slightly south of $500, so with a difference of $860 compared to plating, that leaves $360-ish over material for finishing/engraving/fitting, and since this is not a CNC piece, some hand work. Jeweler's pricing, but not completely outside the ballpark assuming quality.

Murat told me the pricing today. I had an order pending for the Sailor 2021 and was enquiring about changing to the Master Collection razor. I went for it but not the solid gold ring version.

Right on. I am looking forward to the MC. Congrats on yours. I was hoping mine would ship this week.

Thanks for running those numbers. I agree, seems to be reasonable. I can appreciate the inspiration to do it. Has there been another razor with a solid gold part? I've not seen one, that I recall.

Not unfamiliar with casting and finishing gold, so I can appreciate the skill required to fit into a precision mechanism, and he should charge accordingly for his talent. At some point, these creations become functional art. Nice to have custom options.

The downside of 22k gold (85-90 HV) is wear - likely to scratch/dent/wear fairly easily compared to (likely) 10k (145 HV) or 14k (140 HV) plate, although it can be age-hardened with something like Titanium to improve qualities....
