It might not be you but just a razor that doesn't agree with your head shaves, for instance I shave my head with straights, shavettes, SE's, DE's and injectors without problems but there is for instance that one razor that I can't shave with without getting some small cuts (on the face it's a fabulous shaver however), I know others that don't have that problem.

Don't give up yet, as they say practice for a long long time and all is coming. I can only speak for myself but with the sailors proper angle just happened from first shave, it just clicked and give me that wow feeling.

Thanks for chiming in, I’m glad to hear that you’re getting great shaves. It could very well be that I’m not used to the shorter handle and I just need more practice holding the proper angle. I’ll definitely try any pay better attention to my angle and see if things improve.

Sorry to hear about your experience so far. For me, the '20 and '21 are providing stellar shaves, for both my head and face.

As Snuff mentioned, it could be the razor that simply isn't for your skin. I have experienced this myself with a Charcoal Goods razor. After cycling through almost a dozen different blades, I've finally found one that works and it clicked. So it could be that you need to still search for the right blade for it. This took me over a year to figure out..lol.

The other thing is that it might be the angle. For me I tend to shave steep, for both head and face. Play around with the angle a bit. You may find you are either naturally more in tune with either steep or shallow angle.

Last but not least is pressure. While this is generally true, on the lower to lowest settings this does not apply for me. Higher settings, light pressure is a must.

Thank you for your input. Yeah, it’s interesting to me that the only razors I have trouble with on my head are also the most aggressive with the most blade feel that also require my full attention when face shaving but I can cruise control the 2021 to BBS no problem. Perhaps I’m not respecting the beast as much as I should, haha.

I’ll keep trying and report back. Thanks again.

Well received advice, thank you for your insight.

So far I’ve tried the Feather (palm stropped before using) that came loaded and Wizamets which are usually good to go in other razors but I will certainly try a Polsilver and GSB. Wow, you really hung in there, haha. That’s devotion.

Yeah, I also suspect my angle is off. I only use one razor (Vector OC) when working out of town so it does take some adjustment when I pick up certain DE’s. Even my now beloved WR2’s had a learning curve for me.

Understood on managing applied pressure, especially with the heavy head on the Sailor, it’s possible that even just the weight of the razor is too much if my angle is already askew.

found the new opgress stand to be superb for the sailor 2021 model
and some weight and size to it
also has a removable stud measuring 4.9mm
ideally the sailor is almost 6mm dia. hole  size in base of handle-
-so me I am off to machine  and mirror polish a close fitting stud in 316l for mine-

Speaking of stands, looks like the Taiga stand has a post almost exactly 6mm - anyone know if this would fit the Rocnel?  TIA!

recommend to open the video in YouTube and watch in 4K to appreciate the beauty.  the finishing is definitely a step up. Most noticeable on the top cap.

In my opinion this is just 2020 again. my 2020 also has a 2021 mold because It was made in January

I'm thinking if a man buys that for himself he better be prepared to by the wife some jewelry.
That's a pretty piece of gear.

Indeed, in my case it wasn’t jewelry but a really nice sewing machine, keeps everyone happy, now what should I get here when the titanium version becomes available?  Rolleyes
