OH! I see it now. Looking at it in elevation definitely seems to have lost some curvature from the ends towards the middle. Wonder what led to that revision?

Mines 135G on the dot. My 2020 is 188 grams.

My first thought as to why the bottom is flat was "weight savings". Then I weighed the prototypes at 146g vs 175g and was kinda surprised at the shifts in prototype to production models. Heck you saw a 53g shift...I only saw 29g shift. Not sure what to make of it yet but it is pretty danged fun to have all of the specimens in relatively close proximity.

Question: Does the base still have the hole for the stand?

Challenge: Get a photo of yours balance on a jar, similar to mine. Balance had to shift. It would be nice to know where it landed on the production model.

The further revision may have to do with more weight savings, although very slightly.  Shave off a few grams here and there, count in give/take about a hundred limited produced razors, it can all add up.

The prototype Loot has is an homage to the 2017 Sailor, which makes it more unique as a collector's item.

Does anyone know if the 2021 top cap can fit onto the 2020 model?

A heads up for those receiving their razors tomorrow. I sliced my finger earlier while unpackaging the razor because I failed to notice that it arrived loaded with a blade . A Likely not intentional, but a qaqc leftover as the 2020 didn’t arrive with a loaded blade.

On to the shave. I had planned for a mild shave tonight due to shaving to a BBS with the Karve E last night. After a surprise Memorial Day deliver i decided to go for a bbs again with a 3 pass approach. Setting 3, 2, then 1.5 touch up.

The efficiency proof shot below is from the first pass. Setting 3 had blackbird level of bladefeel but get much safer to me. The blade is held more rigid and the bladefeel helps to maintain a proper angle.

Pass 2 and 3 is where I concluded my preference for the 2021 Sailor over the 2020. Weight is last year’s only downfall for me. Shaving my neck and the ATG pass with the 2021 was much more comfortable due to improved grip and control.( both due to decrease in weight )

There was a moderate amount of sting with the splash, but this is my first shave with a Non titanium/aluminum razor in months. No weepers. No irritation. Also not unusual for my skin when I achieve bbs as close as the one I got tonight.

Overall very happy about the razor.

Thanks for the heads up that the razor might be loaded with a blade cornbread .

I do find it a little strange that the razor already came with a blade preloaded. I wonder which brand of blade it came with?

Definitely odd for a brand new razor. Someone in QC dropped the ball, no doubt. I would be a little steamed. Thanks for the heads up.

Until you pointed out the similarity between the 17 and my prototype, I didn't make the connection. Thanks for the insight. Welcome to DFS.

You're very welcome!  Thanks for welcoming me, I'm also on the B&B forum as well, my user ID here is just abbreviated (from faroll2).  Great to see you and a few others are enjoying the new razor.
