I'd say setting 6 would be similar. No need to go higher, but you can if you'd like.  Big Grin

Thanks C. 6 is where I generally run my Sailors. Sometimes I will go up or down a little depending on growth.

Is there any benefit/difference by setting higher than needed?

Gentlemen, thank you for sharing your experience.
I like Rocnel Sailor, although it's not my favorite. But I have two Sailors: 2019 and 2020 with a gold ring. I like the way 2019 shaves more.

What is your favorite Sailor and why?

I would also really like to hear comparisons between Sailor made of metal and Sailor made of titanium.

How to position the Sailor's cap correctly, I don't know if it also applies to the latest model in TI but maybe it can help

Well..."needed" is subjective but I get your point. I guess it depends on the objective. If BBS in 3 passes is the objective, I can do that one 3. Most of the time, I am going after 5-10 days growth and my objective is to remove 95% of it it 1 pass, so I use 6-8 setting. I leave it on 6-8 for subsequent passes because I also want a 16-18 hour BBS.

At some point, the gap gets bigger but it does no cut any closer as the BBS lasts the same amount of time. I think that is face dependent too but I have not identified that limit with a Sailor and my face.

Need to pick one up, will wait around bst for one to come up because a grand is just too rich for my blood. I have the 2023 sailor Ti/SS mix.

To my mind, none whatsoever!
However, as we have seen in school, there are always kids who get some sort of charge
out of acting a little more macho than the others. It's harmless...and cute.
But I wouldn't use someone else's benchmarks to unduly influence my shave.

In my experience, increasing the blade gap and exposure beyond a certain point doesn't necessarily result in a closer BBS shave. However, if you have more than a week's beard growth, a razor with a larger gap and exposure will allow you to clean your face more quickly and efficiently.
