It's not very often I read a book because of a TV series, but in this case, that's what happened. If you have Netflix, and if you have teenage kids, you need to read this book, and watch this series. While the subject matter is dark and at times hard to read and watch. This series/book is one of the best on both fronts I have seen in years. Highly recommend. If you have read the book or seen the NETFLIX series, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

My daughter has been watching the series. She started it on her own. I caught glimpses of it, and asked what was going on. She explained it. We are going to start the series over and watch it together this week. A tough topic that seems to have been well-handled in the Netflix series.

I will provide more of my opinion after I have some valuable time with the show and my daughter...

I saw the trailer but am not sure if I shall watch it. Maybe I'll give it a go after what I'm currently watching (Shetland, also on Netflix).

While the subject matter and synopsis may be dark and difficult to discuss, the reality is in a day and age where it's easy to be anonymous and hard for kids to be able to "turn it off" and everything can be recorded at anytime, this series/book delves into the darkness that can cause in people's lives and the outcome that can follow. Hence, after watching this series and reading the book, I am watching it again with my 13 year old.... difficult as it may be he needs to know two things

A. His Mother and I are always there and he can come to us with anything.

B. Words and actions matter; something you may deem as small and as a pinprick might be taken as a gunshot by the recipient.

For the aforementioned, and the series leading to a gateway to those points, I find it incredibly poignant .
