Portus Cale is a 5 star shaving soap for all the reasons mentioned above. I believe this is one of the most underrated soaps on the market. I can only think of a few people who have ever even mentioned soap, two of which are YouTube reviewers who spoke very highly of it. See Shave Tank's (member here) review on YouTube if interested. He summed it up as a dream soap and absolutely amazing, as well as "top" in all categories of rating it. I concur with everything he said. On top of all that the scent is amazing. It's a perfect blend of citrus, cedar, and amber. I find it to be a very soft, comforting and relaxing scent.

Easily produces a stable lather. I load heavy with all my soaps, which I believe eliminates any lathering issues with even the most stubborn soaps. However, this soap did not take much effort at all to build a wonderful lather.

Post shave skin feel is on par with some of the best, likely due to the lanolin.

Among the best glide of any soap I own or have ever used. It's not the type of slickness where I have trouble holding my brush, but rather the type that simply provides superior glide. The razor just glides right down my neck and face without a bit of resistance.

Scent is subjective but I love it. It's a wonderful blend of citrus, cedar, & amber. Scent strength is about medium, yet strong enough to smell throughout the entire shave. I always wear an aftershave so can't comment on longevity.

Skin care is excellent in my case. I can't speak for those with acne or oily skin but I'd certainly recommend this soap for those who do suffer from skin conditions, and I'd love to hear back on their results. I am prone to sever razor burn, bumps, and ingrown hairs, but my shaving routine and the products I use have eliminated those issues. Thus far I don't suspect any issues while using this soap.

At the current exchange rate this soap cost $23.02 US shipped from Connaught Shaving. I feel that's a bargain for this soap. It's also worth noting that the shipping from Connaught Shaving is cheaper than most US merchants, and it's free for US, CA, and EU orders over £60, and UK orders over £45.

This is a premium soap that performs like a premium soap. It has a very unique texture, which is very smooth and kind of resembles some of the makeups my wife wears.

This soap has 5 star packaging for it's price point in my opinion. The jar is a hard plastic that looks more like glass and has a quality screw on lid and a clear plastic cover or inner liner under the lid. It also has a nice box with a colored inside and a small booklet with product info that unfolds.
