Factory unit adjustment is sloppy and inconsistent between individual units. The head assembly bows the blade more than most razors and requires a more horizontal angle. The chrome plating is VERY thin
and a careful cleaning regimen is required as all Zamack razors deserve. .Iin addition, the deep soap channel and close head to blade fit make this razor a pig to clean beyond the quick rinse. One of the aftermarket machinists recommends a light mineral oil for the mechanism. dialing the adjustment to relieve the spring is not required. The factory plastic adjustment can actually be 'antiqued' and is very durable. The aftermarket makers add their own sloppy feature- discarding the instructions and failure to align the tiny pyramid and line on the head will disable the adjustment.
Once you understand these quirks the Progress family offer superb performance with blade gap options and can turn a less than stellar blade into a winning combination. A standard Model will soon reveal it's individuality and is
a fine razor in itself. If you are allergic to plastic or expect German precision you have to go aftermarket with an American or British modification.

Razor has unique features not clearly explained
