Overall Bufflehead is putting out some top tier soaps. And North York is no exception. If you're looking for a top notch cool weather gourmand scent with loads of coffee and roasty goodness you're going to really enjoy North York.

The soap is a softer soap. But it's very easy to load up and whip into a super protective lather.

Excellent skin feel. Great cushion and glide. Feels very protective and the razor glides easily over it.

Top tier levels of slickness. And and excellent amount of residual slickness, which is one of the hallmarks of a great soap in my opinion.

This scent is a gourmand lover's dream. Definitely a cooler weather scent.

Right out of the tin you get a big nose full of that awesome coffee along with some of that roasted barley. Both smell extremely natural. Like you just got a big whiff of a bag of dark roast beans and well, roasted barley. But prior to lathering the barley really just adds a slight dimension to the roasty coffee note.

Once you lather North York up the coffee takes second fiddle to the impressive roasted barley note alongside that vanilla. It almost has a slight freshly made popcorn thing going on, but less sweet and slightly more earthy. All of that gourmand goodness is then cut down a bit by the lovely hint of blood orange.

It's a scent that really becomes more than the sum of it's parts. And, despite being deceptively simple, really creates some complex interplay between its parts.

Excellent skin conditioning in this formulation. It leaves your skin feeling super conditioned and moisturized. I find it similar in post-shave performance to L&L Grooming's bison tallow formulation

This is probably a sticking point for some folks. There are a number of artisans in this performance tier that offer comparable performance for slightly less money per ounce. But I will say this is one of the most unique gourmand scents I've had the pleasure of smelling in some time.

Everything about Bufflehead oozes high quality classy software. From the packaging to the performance and even the high quality ingredients.

Packaging on this is fantastic. It came in a really nice linen bag with the Bufflehead logo stamped on it. And the soap is packaged in a sturdy high quality tin with an well done cork label.
