Youtube videos

I'll comment on tis thread from the perspective of an artisan. I try to find channels that don't give positive reviews on everything. Those are the ones that generate sales. It doesn't bother me if a channel is critical about one of my products. Such feedback lets me improve products.

I try to sell review products at a deep discount, though give plenty away. I don't see whether folks pay for them being a big issue like I would in the wider world. The enthusiast shaving community is famously genteel. My bigger concern is that folks don't want to make critical remarks publicly due to this.

IAMCDB was a really good at calling it like he sees it. He viewed his role as being a consumer advocate for wet shaving. He stopped doing videos about a year ago. Just as importantly as giving honest feedback, he knows a lot about shaving. So, when he had critical feedback, it was accurate. At least it was for my products.

Currently I follow Kensurfs..really good guy and Sinatra Lennon.

Used to follow IAmCDB, Nick Shaves, and Shave Busta.

Kevy Shaves is also a good one as is PaulH

But it would also be good to remember that critical reviews are not necessarily more reliable for make good decision for oneself because there are always personal preferences or just setup that work better for each different person.

For a content creator, even in absence of conflict of interest, the choice of make positive review could came in to be even because during the more recent years exist a constant erosion of space from what can be said.
The result is a sostantial absence of critical reviews, so differents viewpoints, so even opposite, over any subject.
Plus the continuos change, in reduction over the small amount of money that they obtain and visibility, from social media, will probably make disappear the common enthusiastic people that would like speak out their mind, in the open.

One of the things you learn about YouTube, is its all about that sponsorship money. YouTube went from a platform where people uploaded video's just for fun, to a platform to make money off of. But as we all know, in order to really make a living off of YouTube, you have to be huge like Markiplier or Linus Tech Tips, where your bring in millions of dollars per year. Cause if you just have a few thousands subscribers, your not making squat, and you better keep your day job lol. 

But these days its all about the sponsors. And when companies give you products for free, they expect you to say nothing but good stuff about their products, otherwise if you don't, you lose your sponsorship with them. There are a lot of shills on YouTube, pushing wet shaving products, and saying nothing but good things about them. There's a bald guy ( won't say his name ) on YouTube who pushes PAA products super hard, and its very obvious that he's a shill.

Don't look to YouTube to get any form of true honesty. If your looking for honesty about a product, then you have to look at the wet shaving forums like this one, where real people, provide real answers. We don't sugar coat things, we give you the good, the bad, and the ugly. We buy everything that we own, and we are given nothing for free by companies, to say only good things about. In other words, we keep it real here. But you can't expect the same from YouTuber's.
