Well, I already posted this on two other recent OneBlade threads here on DFS, but I promised to post it here, too, for “historic and documentation purposes,” so here goes.

Quick background: As the OneBlade is now available through Amazon, a one star review by a customer named Mike A. has popped up there. The following quote is a OneBlade representative’s response to the one star review. Make of it what you will, I’m only documenting the fact.

Quote:The price of the OneBlade Razor was increased for several reasons which we're happy to discuss. For one, we spent another round of R&D this past year, refining the razor to our newest model. As such, we're now using an even higher-grade stainless steel material and we've also made slight adjustments to the latching system of the razor head, which we feel helps to deliver a more mild shaving experience. In addition, we've made enhancements to our overall manufacturing and fulfillment process, and have also expanded our internal support team to ensure that we're always providing a top tier luxury experience for every customer.

Those are smart improvements to the product and business, but I'd argue they were required at the previous price point, especially given how the product was positioned.

Shaven in the Past
(This post was last modified: 12-01-2016, 12:00 AM by preidy.)
I have no beef with any O.B. owner as beauty (and performance) is in the eye of the beholder. It's a beautiful looking razor and if it performs as advertised - great. But a new blade for each shave? Wow. That's 250.00 a year - every year. O.B has taken King Gillette's marketing plan to a new level. KG has to be mouthing in his grave ("See I told you so"). The initial outlay I could justify because I appreciate quality and a great looking driver, but the up-keep (which is akin to having to buy premium gas) is a deal breaker for me.

I spent $35 on blades for my OneBlade and with the use I get out of a blade I will have enough to last me for at least 2-3 years.

In my very limited experience (I had the opportunity to try out the OneBlade for a short period), even the recommended Feather blades were good for at least four shaves per blade. With the de-spined Gem blades, that amount is easily doubled.

They sell cars today that take regular? Aren't about all cars today turbos requiring premium?

Sure cars take regular, some even use diesel, some use electricity, also I don`t think all cars have turbos.

GEM blades should last more than 8 shaves, IMHO. some people get 20-30+ easily from them.
