I am really not sure how I even wound up here. I feel like that guy in the street talking to the pigeons & living in a cardboard box.... I got a new Viking Blade DE on Christmas from my loving wife proving once again she can read my mind.

It was just the quest for some good blades that sent me down this slippery slope that some of you refer to as a hobby but we all know is some sort of addiction.

I did find my blades, well sever different blades in fact and then a set of four heads made by Maggard so I could find exactly what my face would find most appealing.

I consider my position at the time heading towards serious, however I may have still had a chance had I not happened upon the Youtube gang and the real hard core addicts on these very boards.

My trusty Old Spice has been cast aside for any number of samples from all points, My old brushes all off the shelf from beauty supply houses over the years have given way to first class items from Whipped Dog. I have a rack with five DE's now and realize I am excited to learn that Jay @ Delta Echo is going to be making me one of his creations.

If this ain't bad enough, I now have a straight razor and a strop attached to my sink. And am filling up an old TOBS jar with change to get that Ralf Aust blade that I really don't know if I can live without, along with a few other DE's that the Maggard heads have caused me to want to check out.

I blame all this on you ( You know who you are ) and can only say Thank you very much.

Long life,

Jim

I don’t exactly know who started it all, but I do know that we are all in this together now — past the point where pointing fingers does any good. Smile

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

After meeting another member this past weekend and trading soaps, I can attest to the fact that it is indeed an addiction! Fun to have other people to sympathize and show things off to though. Cool

Yup, that's part of the value of the shave forums! Lots of gents have blamed their acquisitions on the folks on the forums!

Hey, what are friends for !? :-)

Which begs the question - does that ever calm down the wife? Smile

I don't know what all this finger pointing and labelling of "addiction" comes from, it's economical, I'm just saving my children and grandchildren money on soaps and razors because gosh knows that I'll pay less for it now then they will when they have to buy it, it's called buying to beat inflation, no problem here, No need to go to meetings or anything.

It can become an addiction when you first start sampling all the wonderful products. But with all the money I have spent on this stuff, it's still by far the cheapest hobby I have. I have much more money tied up in photography or trap shooting than what I will ever spend on shaving. Unlike most hobbies, shaving is something you can do every day.
